With the Six New Silos Scheduled for Delivery in the Second Half of the Year, Porto Ponta do Félix Will Achieve an Even More Efficient Infrastructure for Storing Cargoes Such as Barley, Malt, and Wheat
Located in the Antonina region on the coast of Paraná, Porto Ponta do Félix announced during this past Monday, (05/02), a new investment in the location. Thus, a total of R$ 45 million will be invested to improve the cargo storage infrastructure and build six new silos, focusing on operations with products such as barley, malt, and wheat throughout 2022.
Investment of R$ 45 Million in Construction Works for New Silos Will Ensure Porto Ponta do Félix High-Quality Infrastructure for Diverse Cargo Operations
The management of Porto Ponta do Félix announced a new infrastructure investment package that will be carried out over this first semester at the location. Within this plan, a total of R$ 45 million will be invested to construct six new cargo storage silos. Furthermore, each silo will have a static capacity of 6,700 tons, totaling 40,000 tons which will be essential for operations in the Paraná complex.
The investment package also includes plans for an expansion of the port area to achieve an even more suitable infrastructure for cargo storage and transportation operations. Therefore, a new warehouse for fertilizers will also be constructed over an area of 17,000 square meters, with a capacity of 120,000 tons. The current infrastructure covers 65,000 square meters, with an estimated static capacity of 270,000 tons in total.

With 50 tons of plastic waste, a 30-meter bridge was assembled over a river in Scotland. It seems like an ordinary construction, but it doesn’t use traditional wood or steel and can even be disassembled.

Without concrete, without traditional cleaning, and without common separation, a block made of recycled plastic transforms problematic waste into a rigid piece for walls and structures.

With 1,500 plastic bottles and bamboo, a simple, triangular house transforms into an emergency shelter, born from urban waste, can be assembled collectively, and can be an option in remote areas and humanitarian crises.

With 6,200 discarded toys, a 357 m² house in India transforms children’s plastic waste and compressed earth into a wall, a colorful facade, and a curious attraction for neighborhood children.
With the development of the new infrastructure plan at the port, Ponta do Félix will gain a new perspective for cargo storage expansion. Moreover, the expansion works are already underway and, upon completion of all phases, the estimated static capacity will rise to 430,000 tons. The construction of the new six silos will be essential for the storage of barley, malt, and wheat, with a final delivery forecast for the second half of the year. This is one of the largest infrastructure investments the port has made in recent years to enhance the efficiency of operations.
Infrastructure Plan Focusing on the Construction of New Silos Will Be Essential to Maintain Partnerships with Companies That Signed Long-Term Contracts
Several companies had already signed long-term preliminary contracts with the management of Porto Ponta do Félix over the last few months. Thus, the construction of the new silos will preferentially serve these companies over a total period of 10 years for cargo storage. The companies in question are the breweries Petrópolis, from Rio de Janeiro, manufacturer of various beer brands, including Petra and Itaipava; and the Uruguayan Barley, a malt supplier.
Consequently, the president of Porto Ponta do Félix, Gilberto Birkhan, commented on the investment and emphasized the pursuit of improvements and modernization of cargo storage operations. The executive stated, “The investments are focused on equipment, with the installation of concrete silos, which allow for lower impact from external temperatures on the quality of the stored products. In this way, we promote the integrity of the products and gain in quality of what reaches the producers.”
Porto Ponta do Félix achieved significant results during 2021, and the construction of the new silos will be essential to continue this growth. Thus, there was an expansion of its operations portfolio, improvements in maritime structure, and investments in expansion works that ensured more than 70% growth in 2021.
