According to the ordinance published in the Official Gazette of the Union this Wednesday, it was defined by the Ministry of Mines and Energy that PPSA and Petrobras “will calculate the compensation to be paid” to the oil company for these contributions already made in Sépia and Atapu”.
The state-owned companies must also reach an agreement regarding the participation of the Union and the assignee in these areas.
The calculation of these participations will use the proportion between the excess volume contracted in the onerous assignment and the recoverable volume in hydrocarbons from the areas to be auctioned.
Petrobras and PPSA will meet in person every 30 days along with representatives from the ministry and the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) “to report on the progress of negotiations” and present studies related to the discussions.
A work plan for defining the values of the participations and of the compensation must also be agreed upon by the oil companies, which will specify the necessary data and information for the calculation, as well as a schedule for the activities.
Petrobras and PPSA will also conduct studies to define the development strategy for the areas after the auction.
The government has been working to conduct a new auction for the Atapu and Sépia areas, but it is likely that the auction will be postponed to next year.
