Among the capitals, the average price of fuel was R$ 5.937. Rio de Janeiro (R$ 6.374) and Rio Branco (R$ 6.340) had the highest prices in the first half of July. The lowest average prices were found in Curitiba (R$ 5.430) and João Pessoa (R$ 5.543).

Refueling with Ethanol Is Advantageous Only in Mato Grosso

The average price of ethanol in the country in the first half of June was R$ 4.344. Only in Mato Grosso is it advantageous to refuel vehicles with the fuel instead of gasoline – the method used in this analysis, discounting factors such as individual vehicle autonomies, is that to justify filling the tank with ethanol, the price per liter must be less than 70% of the gasoline price.
