The Log Price Index (IPTL) published indicated that the average price of Diesel S-10 at Brazilian gas stations fell by 3.65% in March compared to the previous month, to R$ 6.39 per liter, following last week’s price cut at Petrobras refineries on Wednesday.
The price of regular diesel dropped by 3.62% during the period, to R$ 6.30 per liter, and the index is based on supply at 21,000 accredited gas stations from Ticket Log, a brand of mobility and fleet management solutions from Edenred Brazil, which manages 1 million vehicles and performs an average of 8 transactions per second.
Reduction of Diesel S10 Is Related to Changes at Petrobras
After Petrobras reduced the average price of diesel, “in a few days, the national average price at standard pumps in the country fell by 0.85%, and the S-10 type decreased by 1.31%,” said Douglas Pina, General Manager of Móvel, Edenred Brazil, in a report.
Petrobras’ adjustments to the refinery prices of gasoline and diesel are not automatically passed on to end consumers at gas stations, but depend on a range of issues such as taxation, biofuel mix and distribution, and resale margins.
