Adjustment, it’s the second consecutive one made by the Brazilian oil giant Petrobras! New value takes effect on September 1.
After reducing gasoline and diesel prices, the Brazilian oil giant Petrobras announced on August 26 that on the next September 1, it will adjust the prices of Aviation Kerosene (QAV) with a reduction of 10.4% in the selling prices for distributors.
This is the second consecutive reduction in QAV prices, which had already undergone an adjustment of -2.6% at the beginning of August.
According to a practice that dates back 20 years, QAV price adjustments are monthly and defined by a contractual formula negotiated with distributors.

The selling prices of Petrobras’ QAV to distributor companies seek to balance with the international market and follow the fluctuations in product value and exchange rates, both upwards and downwards, with adjustments applied on a monthly basis, mitigating daily volatility in international quotations and exchange rates.
If Passed on to Consumers, New Drop in Price of Aviation Kerosene for Distributors Could Reduce Airfare Prices!
Petrobras sells the QAV produced in its refineries or imported only to distributors. The distributors, in turn, transport and sell the product to air transport companies and other final consumers at airports, or to resellers, which can influence and lower airfare prices.
It is important to note that distributors and resellers are responsible for the facilities at airports and for refueling services.
“The Brazilian market is open to free competition and there are no legal, regulatory or logistical restrictions for other companies to operate as producers or importers of QAV”, said Petrobras in the statement.
