As part of Petrobras' divestment plan, the sale of refineries could lead to an increase in fuel prices. Oil workers are on strike in several states

If the sales of Petrobras refineries are completed, gasoline and diesel could rise even more, even with consecutive increases in fuel prices. According to oil workers, who are on strike in the states of Bahia, Amazonas, Espírito Santo, Minas Gerais, Pernambuco and São Paulo, the sale of refining units, which are part of the state-owned company's divestment plan, could cause many impacts to society.

Petrobras and the consecutive increases in fuel prices

With the increase in the dollar, gasoline and diesel became more expensive at Petrobras refineries, leading to new readjustments that directly impact the consumer's pocket. This is the sixth readjustment in the year and the second only this March made by the state-owned company, with readjustments of 8,8% in gasoline and 5,5% in diesel.

To raise awareness and attract popular support, oil workers have promoted the sale of fuel at reasonable prices. In recent weeks, at several gas stations across the country, app drivers have been able to buy gasoline at 3,50 reais per liter. They also sold diesel and cooking gas at discounted prices. They believe that, as Petrobras controls all stages of production, from exploration to refining, it is not fair to link price changes to the international market.

The oil workers in Bahia who have been on strike since the 5th, were against the sale of the Landulpho Alves Refinery, negotiated for US$ 1,65 billion to Mubadala Capital. The Refinery was valued at US$ 3 and 4 billion, however, it was sold for half the price.
