Renan Santos, founder of the Movimento Brasil Livre and pre-candidate for the Presidency by the newly created party Missão, advocated for the suspension of most public competitions in Brazil, with the exception of those considered essential, as a way to redirect resources for salary adjustments for police officers, teachers, doctors, and active civil servants.
Renan Santos stated that he intends to halt the opening of public competitions on a large scale if he reaches the Planalto, maintaining only selections for areas deemed indispensable for the functioning of the State, as he declared in a recent interview released in a video.
Criticism of the Culture of Public Competitions
During the video on social media, the political leader attacked what he called the “concurseiro culture,” stating that he does not wish for Brazil to become a nation based on the pursuit of stability through exams and public positions.

In Renan Santos’ assessment, the Brazilian Judiciary would be simultaneously expensive and inefficient, which would justify salary cuts in these careers to allow for the redistribution of resources to other State functions.
Priority for Police and Frontline Workers
In defending the proposal, Santos stated that he wants police officers with more money in their pockets, emphasizing that these professionals face life risks daily in defense of the population, unlike sectors that, in his view, benefit from privileges.
The political leader used metaphors to differentiate productive workers from public servants he considers part of the problem, reinforcing that he intends to break with practices he classifies as wasteful in public service.
Electoral Discourse and Political Differentiation
Renan Santos stated that his stance distances him from other political leaders mentioned by name during the interview, saying that traditional governments would maintain benefits and structures that he intends to cut directly.
Concluding his speech, the pre-candidate declared that he created a party to not reproduce the practices he criticizes, reiterating that his proposal involves tough and unpopular changes, but that, according to him, would be necessary to reorganize the Brazilian State, even amidst strong backlash.
