Prices Of Ethanol, Diesel, And Gasoline Show Slight Decrease In The First Week Of December
During the first week of December, the prices of the main fuels in Brazil showed a downward trend, according to data from ValeCard, a reference in mobility solutions. The ethanol recorded a decrease of 0.41%, followed by slight drops in diesel (0.14%) and gasoline (0.12%), compared to the values from the week of November 24 to 30.
The Ethanol Scenario In The Domestic Market
In this period, the average price of ethanol was R$ 3.673 per liter, a negative variation of R$ 0.015. This price reduction reflects the increased supply of raw materials, with sugarcane processing growing 32.09% compared to the same period last year, according to data from Única. This increase in production impacted the prices charged by hydrated ethanol plants, especially in São Paulo, where there was a reduction of 4.17% in the last ten days of November.
An interesting detail is that, to be financially advantageous compared to gasoline, the price of ethanol must be equal to or less than 70% of the value of the fossil fuel. Following this logic, refueling with ethanol was more economical in 18 Brazilian states during the first week of December.

Variations In Diesel And Gasoline Prices
The S-10 diesel, the most widely used in the country, also showed a decrease, with the average price falling to R$ 6.349 per liter. The federative units that felt this variation the most were Acre, Amapá, and Rondônia. The expectation is that this downward trend will continue, driven by the reduction in diesel prices at refineries announced by Petrobras.
As for gasoline, with relative stability, there was an average reduction of 0.12% in price, settling at R$ 5.842 per liter. Sergipe, Rio Grande do Norte, and the Federal District had the highest variations. The trend is for prices to remain stable until the next adjustment by Petrobras, influenced by factors external to the domestic market.
Data from ValeCard, compiled from transactions at over 25,000 accredited gas stations, is essential to understanding the fluctuations in the fuel market in Brazil. With this information, consumers and companies in the sector can make more informed decisions about fueling and purchasing strategies, considering regional variations and market trends.
Monitoring these changes is crucial for financial planning for both individual drivers and transportation companies. The trend in fuel prices is an important indicator of the country’s economic health and the cost of living, directly reflecting on the consumer’s wallet in Brazil.
