The University of Pernambuco (UPE) and the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE) launched the joint announcement no. 01/2024, offering 10 thousand spots for the Extension Course in Special Education in the Perspective of Inclusive Education. With registrations open from October 23 to November 10, 2024, this opportunity is aimed at teachers and education professionals interested in enhancing their pedagogical practices for free.
The free online course (EAD) primarily aims to train basic education teachers to develop pedagogical practices aligned with the principles of Inclusive Education. The course, fully online, will last three months and have a workload of 120 hours.
The content will be divided into four modules, covering themes related to special education and inclusion. Activities will be carried out through the Labtime platform, with support from qualified tutors to guide the participants.

Available Spots and Offering Locations
5,000 spots will be offered by UPE and another 5,000 by UFPE, totaling 10 thousand opportunities. The free course will be offered online (EAD), but students residing in Pernambuco will have access to in-person support at the sites of the Open University of Brazil (UAB), where they can access the necessary resources for carrying out academic activities.
Selection Process
The selection of candidates will be conducted on a first-come, first-served basis until the spots are filled. Public and private school teachers who work in the classroom or in Specialized Educational Service (AEE), as well as basic education professionals not currently in the classroom, will be prioritized. Candidates residing in Pernambuco will have priority in the selection, followed by candidates from other locations.
Requirements for Registration
Candidates must be teachers or professionals in basic education, with access to a computer and internet. If they do not have these resources, residents of Pernambuco may carry out activities at the in-person support centers of UAB. During registration, it is necessary to attach documents such as ID, CPF, proof of residence, and course completion certificate.
Schedule of the Selection Process
Registrations will be open from October 23 to November 10, 2024, with the preliminary result expected on November 18. Candidates may appeal on November 19 and 20, and the final result will be announced on November 22, 2024.
