The School of Arts, Sciences and Humanities (EACH) at the University of São Paulo (USP) is offering a unique opportunity for educators who want to delve deeper into environmental issues and teaching the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the context of air quality.

O Air Quality and Sustainable Development Goals Course in Basic Education not only offers free certification, but also opens the doors to a more sustainable future for the country’s schools.

Free USP course: an unmissable opportunity for educators

With a workload of 20 hours, the course offers an in-depth look at the relationship between air quality and the ODS, addressing how these issues can be included in basic education.

In addition to acquiring new knowledge, you will leave with a certification that adds value to your career, especially in the educational and environmental areas.

According to USP, the course aims to train educators to integrate sustainable practices into their classes, creating a more balanced future for future generations.

Course target audience

The course is aimed at:

  • Science (Biology, Physics, Chemistry) and Geography Teachers.
  • Undergraduate students in these areas.
  • Undergraduates and graduates in environmental areas.

Course syllabus

During the course, participants will be introduced to essential topics to understand the relationship between air quality and the environment. Some of the topics covered include:

Layers of the Atmosphere.

The relationship between pressure, temperature and volume of gases.

Air humidity and heat transfer.

The greenhouse effect and the impact of energy on the surface.

Air quality and atmospheric pollution: sources, measurement and health effects.

    The importance of SDGs in basic education

    The introduction of Sustainable Development Goals in the school curriculum is an urgent need, especially when it comes to preparing students to deal with critical environmental issues, such as climate changes and air pollution.

    The course aims to raise awareness among educators about how these issues should be addressed in a didactic manner, in order to make the concepts accessible and interesting for students.

    Vacancies and selection process

    will be offered 50 free places for this course, with registration open until the day 17 January 2025.

    Places are limited, and selection will be based on documentary analysis. Priority will be given to:

    • Teachers in the public primary school system.
    • Environmental Education Educators.
    • Teachers in the private primary education network.
    • Graduates who are not working as teachers.

    If there are vacancies left, other professionals may be considered, and if there is a tie, priority will be given to the oldest candidates.
