Renault Calls Recall for Kwid and Duster Models Due to Rear Axle Failure. Check If Your Vehicle Is on the List and Learn How to Schedule the Free Repair.

The automaker Renault issued an important alert last Thursday, the 5th, to owners of Kwid and Duster models manufactured between 2021 and 2024. A defect in the rear axle may compromise vehicle stability and put the safety of occupants at risk. The recall involves a free inspection and, if necessary, the replacement of the component.

Renault Kwid and Duster Recall: Defect May Affect Driveability and Cause Accidents

Renault identified that specific units of the Kwid and Duster models have a potential manufacturing problem related to the rear axle.

In certain situations, cracks in the support of the part or failures in the fastening process may arise, compromising the vehicle’s structure.

According to the manufacturer, if the defect is not corrected, there is a risk of losing steering control, with the potential to cause serious accidents.

Renault emphasizes that the failure may result in material and physical damage to both the occupants and third parties.

“In extreme cases, this failure may increase the risk of accidents, with possible physical and material harm to the driver, passengers, and third parties,” Renault reported in an official statement.

Models and Chassis Included in the Recall

The Renault recall includes vehicles with the following chassis numbers and production dates:

  • Renault Kwid: Chassis between J000006 and J986154, manufactured between May 5, 2021, and May 12, 2023.
  • Renault Duster: Chassis from J060924 to J187197, produced between September 16, 2024, and December 6, 2024.

The automaker advises that owners of these vehicles consult the complete information on the official website or contact a dealership of the brand.

Repair Time and Free Service

The time required for the repair may vary depending on the model and the severity of the problem. For the Kwid, the service may take from 30 minutes to 8 hours.

For the Duster, the estimated time is half an hour to 1.5 hours.

Renault emphasizes that both the inspection and the replacement of the part will be done at no cost, provided that the customer complies with the recall notice.

Under normal circumstances, repairing this component may cost between R$ 600 and R$ 1,000 outside the authorized network.

Why Is the Renault Duster Recall More Critical?

The problem identified in the Renault Duster has an added concern: in some units, the threads that secure the rear axle bearing may be poorly machined, allowing the axle to detach from the body.

This may cause abnormal noises and even the disconnection of the part, making the car uncontrollable while in motion.

This failure is considered high risk, and Renault urges drivers to have the inspection done as soon as possible.

How to Schedule the Inspection and Where to Get More Information

To schedule the exchange, customers can contact Renault’s Customer Service by calling 0800-055-5615, or access the automaker’s official website to schedule online.

Step by Step:

  1. Access the recall section on the Renault website.
  2. In the indicated field, enter your vehicle’s chassis number (VIN) and click Search.
(If you don’t have the chassis number on hand, you can find it by entering the car’s license plate in the Discover Your Renault Chassis option. After obtaining the number, return and perform the search).
  3. If your vehicle is included in the recall, go to the section And how do I schedule my recall service? and click on Contact Your Dealer.
  4. Fill in with the name of your city and the neighborhood where you are located.
  5. Choose a dealership from the available list, contact them by phone, and schedule an appointment to make the necessary replacement.

This recall reinforces the importance of preventive maintenance and Renault’s commitment to vehicle safety.

The measure aims to correct failures before they cause larger problems, preserving lives and avoiding risky situations.

Kwid and Duster owners should act quickly to ensure their vehicles are regularized.
