Large Industrial Operation Attracts Thousands of Candidates for Temporary Positions at the Main Refinery in Vale do Paraíba; Selection Prioritizes Local Residents and Boosts Sectors Such as Transport, Food, and Hospitality in São José dos Campos During Technical Stop.
Henrique Lage Refinery, known as Revap, confirmed the registration for about 5,000 temporary positions for the Revap technical stop, which will occur from August 23 to November 19, 2025.
Since April 29, over 10,200 resumes have been submitted by the City Hall of São José dos Campos, which mediated the process via an online form.
Revap Technical Stop Boosts Regional Economy
The Revap technical stop is a controlled pause in operations to carry out maintenance, repairs, and upgrades.

The planning follows Petrobras’ guidance to stagger the work in two phases: the first for the original plant (coke) and the second for the new one (plant 210), aiming to avoid crowding on-site.
Petrobras also announced an investment of R$ 2 billion for the process, aimed at modernizing systems and renewing equipment.
Online Registration for Positions at Revap
Since the end of April, the PAT (Workers’ Service Center) has made available an online form that requires full name, contact, e-mail, desired position (with an option for “others”), and resume in PDF, DOC, or DOCX format.
The City Hall screens the applications and forwards the information to the contracted companies, but the final decision lies with the subcontractors.
Online registration does not imply an employment relationship but provides access to necessary technical assessments and tests.
In-Person Service at PAT Starts in June
The in-person service, scheduled for June at PAT located at Praça Afonso Pena, 175, will bring an important strategic component: many candidates prefer to attempt in-person to stand out.
The City Hall informs the dates and criteria in advance on its official portal.
PAT also acts as an overseer of the Municipal Law nº 9.539/2016, which stipulates that 70% of the workforce must be composed of residents of São José dos Campos.
This percentage can reach 80% according to regional collective agreements.
Selection Process Involves Technical Screening
Although the word “position” implies immediate hiring, the reality involves several stages: from submitting the resume, through interviews and assessments, to the actual work phases, spread between September and October.
After the services, the expectation is that the refinery will maintain between 2,500 and 3,000 permanent workers, ensuring the operation’s continuity.
Revap Has a Strategic Role in Supply
The scale of the Revap technical stop goes beyond maintenance: the event has a direct impact on income generation and economic movement throughout Vale do Paraíba.
The facility occupies an area of 10 million m² and, with a maximum capacity of processing up to 252,000 barrels per day – about 14% of national production – supplies Greater São Paulo, the Midwest, the North Coast of SP, and the South of RJ.
Sectors Such as Transport and Food Will Also Be Impacted
In addition to the 5,000 direct positions, there is an expectation of attracting professionals in the transport, food, accommodation, commerce, and other related services sectors.
The president of the regional Sintricom, Marcelo Costa, emphasized that local hiring will be a priority, helping to reduce unemployment and promote professional relocation opportunities.
Modernization of the Unit Increases Production Capacity
Petrobras itself has been working on strategic reinforcement.
Through a public notice, it is investing in the expansion of S-10 diesel production and seeking qualified companies to modernize unit U-272D.
In the end, production will jump from 44,000 to up to 85,000 barrels per day, enhancing regional fuel supply with cleaner fuel.
Qualified Professionals Are a Priority in Hiring
The expectation for the refinery’s resumption after the technical stop includes the consolidation of new operational routines, with optimized processes and updated equipment.
To meet this new cycle, it will be essential for the hired workers to be part of the systems transition, contributing to an efficient plug-and-play.
The city has emphasized regulatory compliance, requiring technical compliance with NR-13 and inspectors throughout all phases.
The most sought-after professionals include industrial painters, boilermakers, welders, power and control electricians, thermal insulators, and scaffold assemblers.
These occupations are essential for the installation of new systems, pipe inspections, structures, as well as carrying out technical revisions on old and new equipment.
Tips to Increase Your Hiring Chances
Preparation for those looking to enter the process requires attention to details: neatness in the resume, clarity in the desired position, presentation of technical certificates (when required), and availability for physical tests.
A proactive approach to in-person registration can be the differentiator that leads to selection.
Additionally, constant attention to notifications from PAT and official sites ensures agility and avoids missing deadlines.
City Hall and Revap Work in Institutional Partnership
Revap and the City Hall have been holding meetings since March to align logistics, security, and urban mobility.
The engineering manager of Revap, Henrique Ventura Silva, highlighted that the institutional partnership has ensured efficient and welcoming integration for thousands of professionals during previous stops – the next phase will be no different.
Petrobras Refinery Strengthens Job Generation in São José dos Campos
With a budget of R$ 2 billion, the Revap technical stop of 2025 represents one of the largest industrial operations in the region.
The mobilization has long-lasting effects: operational reinforcement, increased job offers, stimulation of productive chains, and infrastructure improvement – in addition to positioning São José dos Campos as a hub for qualified labor.
