Renault Kardian begins production in Morocco, gains a 1.5 diesel engine and will supply markets in Africa and the Middle East.
The Renault Kardian continues its international expansion path and is now also manufactured in Morocco, just over nine months after starting production in Brazil. The new feature is the 1.5 diesel engine, a powertrain option which, despite being desired by many, is prohibited in Brazil for passenger vehicles.
Renault Kardian reaches new horizons
Renault announced that the model, which is already produced in Brazil, has begun to be assembled in Morocco. From there, the automaker will supply markets in Africa and the Middle East, strengthening its global presence. Morocco, which is already responsible for the production of other models of the group, such as the Dacia Sandero and Logan, now adds the Kardian to the local portfolio.
Although the Moroccan Renault Kardian is visually almost identical to the Brazilian one, there are important differences. On the outside, the wheel design and color palette have been adjusted to suit local consumers' tastes. Inside, the center console has a simpler finish, the gear lever is traditional, and the steering wheel has an exclusive core.

Moroccan model has fewer standard items
In terms of content, the model produced in Morocco has fewer standard items in its basic versions. While in Brazil all versions have 6 airbags, a digital dashboard and a rear-view camera, in Morocco the entry-level model has only two airbags and an analog instrument panel. The top-of-the-line version receives a more complete package, with items such as blind spot monitoring and automatic air conditioning.
The big mechanical difference is in the 1.5 diesel engine
The Moroccan Renault Kardian features a 1.5 dCi diesel engine, which delivers 102 hp and 22,4 kgfm of torque, always with a 5-speed manual transmission. In addition, Renault offers the option of a 1.0 TCe turbo gasoline engine, but with power reduced to 100 hp. This configuration contrasts with Brazil, where the same engine reaches 125 hp and is associated with an automated dual-clutch CVT transmission.
The highlight is the 1.5 diesel engine, a configuration that cannot be sold in passenger vehicles in Brazil due to local regulations. This reinforces the exclusivity of the Moroccan model for international markets.
Same Brazilian base
Despite the differences, the Renault Kardian maintains the same base: the modular RGMP platform, dimensions of 4,11 meters in length, 1,77 m in width, 1,54 m in height and a wheelbase of 2,60 m. The expansion into Morocco reflects Renault's global strategy of adapting its models to regional needs, with the 1.5 diesel engine being another piece of this puzzle.
The success of the Renault Kardian abroad, now with new engine options, promises to further strengthen plus the relevance of the model in the market global.
I was very curious to know the consumption
The Renault Kardian, a model that is already produced in Brazil, is now also manufactured in Morocco. This version features a new 1.5 diesel engine, with 102 hp and 22,4 kgfm of torque, associated with a 5-speed manual transmission. This configuration is exclusive to international markets, such as Africa and the Middle East, and is not available in Brazil due to local regulations.
Interestingly, in Brazil the 1.0 Turbo engine is sold with a dual-clutch CVT transmission, automated and CVT at the same time. This Renault is revolutionizing, huh 🤣🤣🤣
