The Renault Kwid E-Tech is about to arrive in the country and promises to steal the title of cheapest electric car in Brazil from the JAC E-JS1, also gaining prominence for being a totally economical car.

Renault announced this Thursday (14th) the launch of its new Renault Kwid E-Tech electric car, a fully electric version of the subcompact that will arrive in August at a price of R$ 142.900. Due to this price, the French novelty, which is being imported from China, will assume the position of the cheapest electric car in Brazil, which belonged to the JAC E-JS1, which is currently worth R$ 164,900. According to the automaker, the pre-sale of the Renault Kwid E-Tech is starting now, for a value of R$ 999 and the announced price is guaranteed until July, when it can be readjusted.

The manufacturer will make available the cheapest electric car in Brazil in the Renault on Demand, its subscription program, in plans from 12 to 48 months, in this form, expenses with IPVA, maintenance and insurance are included. In the launch presentation, the French automaker highlighted the lower maintenance cost, compared to the most common versions.

According to the company, in the first three years, revisions are completely free. The warranty is three years, as with other configurations, while factory coverage for electric car batteries is 8 years. The automaker also pointed out that the cost per km driven by the Renault Kwid E-Tech is only BRL 0,06, which is a great advance compared to the BRL 0,48 of the combustion engine version, considering that the gasoline has an average price of R$ 7,30/L in Brazil.

The electric car has 26,8 kWh batteries, which generates a range of 298 km in urban use and 265 km in the mixed cycle, combining driving in the city and on the road. When recharged from a 20 A, 220V residential outlet, the vehicle takes about 9 hours to recover 190 km of range. Regarding performance, the Frenchwoman claims that the cheapest electric car in Brazil offers a power of 65 horsepower and acceleration from zero to 50 km/h in 4,1 seconds. The vehicle weighs about 977 kg.

At a fast charging station, the vehicle can reach 190 km of autonomy in just 40 minutes and, when using a 7 kW Wallbox-type charger, it takes 2 hours and 50 minutes for the Renault Kwid E-Tech to go from 15% to 80% of the state of charge.

In addition, the cheapest electric car in Brazil has ECO mode and regenerative braking, essential items to contribute to the reduction of energy consumption of these types of vehicles, mainly in urban use.

The list of standard equipment includes 6 airbags, ABS brakes with Braking Assist System (BRAS), stability control (ESP), reversing camera, ramp start assistant (HSA), parking sensor, electric steering, Media Evolution multimedia system, among other items.

The Renault Kwid E-Tech is equipped with the Acoustic Vehicle Alert System (AVAS), which emits an audible warning signal to pedestrians until the vehicle reaches 30 km/h.

The automaker also points out that the electric model has the advantage of having most of its components from the combustion version, a point that makes it the cheapest electric car in Brazil due to reduced maintenance costs. Incidentally, the first 3 revisions of the vehicle cost only half the amount charged by the Kwid with a flex engine.
