Lucid Motors Electric Car Surpassed Even the Tesla Model S, Elon Musk’s Flagship Car
The Lucid Air Dream Edition electric sedan was recently rated by the Environmental Protection Agency with an estimated range of 836 km on a full charge. This is the longest range of any all-electric vehicle ever rated by the EPA, including Tesla’s Long Range Model S. The Air goes about 185.075 km further on a charge than Tesla’s fastest model. It even goes further than most gasoline cars can travel on a full tank.

Electric Sedan Manufacturer Claims Range Is Not as Important as Its Technology
Lucid’s CEO, Peter Rawlinson, who previously worked for Tesla and helped design the original Model S, believes that this jaw-dropping figure of 836 km is not really that important. On one hand, this range does not come cheap. Prices for the Lucid Air electric sedan start at US $74,000, but the Dream Edition prices are more than double, starting at US $169,000.
The electric sedan was designed around space and has much more interior space than some existing combustion cars in the Brazilian market. There is more than enough legroom in the back seat (over 35 inches in the R version), and there is also a giant solar roof with infrared blocking.

While the Tesla Model S Long Range is impressive in its efficiency, it still consumes slightly more energy than Lucid’s electric car. The Porsche Taycan Turbo, on the other hand, is much less efficient than the electric sedan, meaning that even without being on the market yet, the Lucid Air vehicle already outperforms models from Tesla and Porsche in terms of range.
Cutting-Edge Technology and a Presence Unlike Any Other in the Automotive Market
Lucid Motors has applied its innovative engineering approach to reduce the size of all critical components of the vehicle’s electric drivetrain. The surprisingly small motors are not much larger than those used as part of a less powerful hybrid system. They are elegantly packaged with their gearbox and inverter.
One of the most significant challenges for electric vehicles is precisely range. While there is not yet an established network of fast charging (we’re talking about the United States), the public fears traveling with them and getting stuck having to charge at a regular outlet.
Charging a Tesla S at a home outlet is possible but can take up to 40 hours. Thus, trips are only really feasible between points with fast charging. The greater the range, the more feasible they are. The more viable long-distance trips become, the more feasible the end of the fossil fuel era is, and the Lucid electric sedan is the start of that journey.
