Shell’s Discovery Reinforces The Potential Of The Campos Basin For Natural Gas Production.
Shell has discovered new indications of natural gas during the drilling of well 1-SHEL-36-RJS, located in block C-M-659, in the Campos Basin. The notification was sent to the National Agency of Petroleum (ANP), highlighting that the drilling took place in a water depth of 2,916 meters. This discovery reinforces the potential of the Campos Basin as one of the main areas for natural gas exploration in Brazil.
Drilling And Discovery History In The Campos Basin
The drilling of the well is being conducted by the drillship DS-15, from Valaris. This is the second indication of natural gas identified by Shell in block C-M-659.
In August 2023, the company had already found signs of hydrocarbon presence in well 1-SHEL-35A-RJS.
