The Geafol Sensformer™, Developed by Siemens, Is Capable of Providing Solutions for Improved Energy Efficiency and Data Reliability, Additionally Optimizing Maintenance Actions
With the purpose of helping energy companies and various sectors towards the digital age, Siemens Energy launches a new equipment concept named Geafol Sensformer™. Besides acting in locations that require greater attention in energy distribution and transmission networks, the feature can convert the transformer into a digital data center, allowing its user/client to optimize operations based on data obtained from the equipment.
- It is worth noting that if you are an engineer, Siemens needs your resume as well.
Manufactured at the Jundiaí branch in the state of São Paulo, the transformer provides more safety and eliminates the need for an operator to be physically present, unless necessary. Data is also stored more intelligently, transmitted via an Internet of Things (IoT) gateway, remaining in the cloud and allowing for more efficient reporting.
“The Geafol Sensformer™ was born connected and aligned with the digitalization trends we are seeing in the market, as it transmits location, temperature, and current in real-time with maximum reliability, enabling more assertive decision-making and better asset management,” says Vagner Lucca Junior, Distribution Transformer Operations Manager at Siemens Energy Brazil.

Illiterate or semi-literate grandmothers were trained to repair solar systems, open rural workshops, and light up homes that still depended on kerosene.

The world has bet on green hydrogen as the fuel of the future, but now faces the side effect: producing 1 kilogram requires about 9 liters of ultrapure water, and the largest projects on the planet are precisely in the driest regions of the Earth, where water is already scarce for people.

Africa has about 500,000 cell towers and most still burn diesel to operate, while companies rush to cover antennas with solar energy and avoid signal blackouts.

Farmers swapped diesel for solar panels in Pakistan, powered irrigation pumps almost cost-free, expanded rice fields, and now groundwater has become a red alert in the countryside.

Sectors Where This New Siemens Technology Can Be Applied
The properties of the Geafol Sensformer™ are applicable in various sectors of the Brazilian market. The device can be used in sugar and ethanol plants, oil platforms, airports, industry, hospitals, shopping centers, energy companies, wind farms, photovoltaic plants, among others.
About 94% of the equipment’s composition can be recycled after its usage cycle, which is why it poses no danger to the environment.
