Siemens Gamesa Launched the New Wind Turbine Model SG 4.7-155 to Maximize Areas with Low Winds and Boost Wind Energy in These Regions
Siemens Gamesa has added a new wind turbine to its 4.X platform, the SG 4.7-155, which combines the company’s experience and track record in the 4 MW wind energy segment with a 155-meter rotor to significantly increase wind energy production at low wind sites.

The SG 4.7-155 wind turbine model is rated at 4.7 MW and is equipped with OptimaFlex technology, allowing it to operate between 4 MW and 5 MW depending on site conditions. Additionally, this wind energy platform will be enhanced with one of the two rotors developed for the 5X platform, the most powerful by Siemens Gamesa in the onshore segment, representing a significant advancement in the company’s strategy to leverage the best technology in wind turbines across all its platforms.
This approach by Siemens, which was also implemented with the launch of the SG 3.4-145 in July, optimizes investment and shortens the development cycle, improving the time to market for new products.

Areas with Low Winds Will Benefit from Wind Energy with Siemens’ Wind Turbine
The development of Siemens turbines specifically designed for low wind areas represents an important boost for onshore wind energy development in mature markets where sites with substantial wind resources are limited. By increasing rotor size, turbines generate more clean energy even with lower winds.
“With this new model, we will be much more competitive in the low-wind segment. In addition, it perfectly complements our SG 5.8-170 turbine to offer our customers the best option to meet the needs of each project. By combining the latest onshore innovations with the best energy cost, we can provide the best solutions for the energy transition,” commented Lars Bondo Krogsgaard, CEO Onshore of Siemens Gamesa.
The model will use a 76-meter blade made of fiberglass reinforced with pultruded carbon, integrating innovative aerodynamics to ensure the best balance between high energy production and reduced noise emission levels.
