Company Becomes One of the Top 10 Wind Energy Producers in the Country
Brazil, May 23, 2024: Statkraft, a leader in hydropower and the largest renewable energy producer in Europe, announced today the completion of its acquisition of Enerfín, the renewable subsidiary of the Spanish company Elecnor. This transaction adds a portfolio of 1.5 GW of projects in operation and construction globally. In Brazil, the company will add nine more wind farms, totaling 632 MW, located in Rio Grande do Sul and Rio Grande do Norte.
The acquisition includes a robust portfolio of projects at various stages of development. In Pernambuco, a solar park with an installed capacity of 68 MW is under construction. With the acquisition, the company surpasses 2.2 GW in renewable energy in Brazil, establishing itself as one of the main producers of wind energy in the country.

Organizational Structure and Expansion
The transaction was finalized after obtaining the necessary authorizations, as announced at the end of last year. Statkraft will incorporate about 40 new professionals, bringing the total to over 370 employees in Brazil. The organizational structure and executive leadership of the company in the country will be maintained.
Fernando De Lapuerta, CEO of Statkraft in Brazil, stated that the conclusion of this purchase marks the consolidation of an intense period of acquisitions. “This acquisition reinforces our efforts to contribute to a more renewable Brazilian energy matrix. Brazil is a priority and strategic country for Statkraft. We will remain focused on our solar projects and energy marketing,” De Lapuerta emphasized.
Acquisitions and Consolidations in Brazil
Last year, Statkraft announced and completed the acquisition of two wind farms from EDP Renováveis, located in Rio Grande do Norte. Additionally, it acquired 18.69% of the capital of Statkraft Energias Renováveis (SKER) that belonged to the Federal Economists Foundation (Funcef).
In 2024, SKER is focused on the construction and inauguration of greenfield projects. Soon, they will begin construction of the first hybrid solar projects in the country: Ventos de Santa Eugênia Solar and Morro do Cruzeiro Solar in Bahia. The plants are expected to start operating in 2025, with an installed capacity of 228 MW (275MWp) of photovoltaic solar generation.
SKER will also complete the construction of the Morro do Cruzeiro wind farm, an extension of the Brotas de Macaúbas Complex in the same region. This farm will generate approximately 386 GWh of renewable energy per year, enough to supply 190,000 homes.
Global Impact
The acquisition of Enerfín represents a major leap for Statkraft in the global arena. In Spain, the company entered the Top 10 of wind energy generation. Birgitte Ringstad Vartdal, CEO of the group, highlighted the expertise that the new employees will bring to the company. “We value the competence and successful experience of the renewable projects developed by Enerfín,” she emphasized.
With the transaction, Statkraft adds a portfolio of 1.5 GW of wind and solar projects in operation and construction, as well as a pipeline of projects for development. The portfolio offers significant opportunities for repowering wind farms, as well as possibilities for hybridization and battery storage.
