Statkraft Completes Assembly of Wind Turbines at Morro do Cruzeiro Wind Farm in Bahia. Project Will Include Hybrid Solar Generation Starting in 2024, Expanding Renewable Energy.
Statkraft completes the installation of wind turbines at the Morro do Cruzeiro wind farm in Bahia. The project will incorporate hybrid solar generation starting in 2024, expanding renewable energy production. The Norwegian company, a reference in the energy sector, demonstrates its commitment to sustainability and innovation by investing in clean energy sources for the future.
In addition to being one of the leading renewable energy producers in Europe, Statkraft stands out for its global presence in clean energy. With the completion of the turbine assembly at Morro do Cruzeiro, the company reinforces its position as a leader in sustainable energy, strengthening its commitment to the energy transition and combating climate change.
Statkraft Wind Farm Project Enters Operational Phase
Next, the procedures for the operational start will begin. According to Samuel Thomae, Project Manager at Statkraft, the completion of this stage symbolizes overcoming a hurdle for the construction team. ‘The presence of winds, although crucial for wind energy production, was a significant challenge that we managed to overcome during assembly.

Hybrid Project of Renewable Energy Company Under Development
Still in 2024, the prestigious energy company will start a hybrid project, integrating solar generation into the venture, with the implementation of the Morro do Cruzeiro Solar complex. Fully conceived ‘in-house’, the project innovates by using batteries with BESS technology, sharing the same connection point for wind and solar generation.
Construction of Hybrid Project in Morro do Cruzeiro Underway
The construction phase of the hybrid project in Morro do Cruzeiro began in late May, with the mobilization of the construction site and an expected completion date in August 2025. Morro do Cruzeiro is a greenfield wind project, representing an expansion of the Brotas de Macaúbas Wind Complex, an active Statkraft asset in operation, located in Bahia.
Expansion of Wind Farm Brings Significant Energy Benefits
The expansion of the wind farm will feature 14 turbines and an installed capacity of 79.8 MW. Due to the excellent wind conditions in the region, the project is expected to generate 386 GWh of renewable energy annually, enough to power more than 190,000 homes.
Ventos de Santa Eugênia Wind Complex: A Milestone for Statkraft
Recently inaugurated by the green energy company, the Ventos de Santa Eugênia Wind Complex is considered the largest wind project of the Group outside Europe. Spanning an extensive area of 489.18 hectares, the complex houses 14 wind farms, totaling 91 turbines of 5.7 megawatts each. The annual production of renewable energy is estimated at 200 Gigawatt-hours (GWh), enough to supply 1.17 million Brazilian households.
About Statkraft’s Leadership in the Renewable Energy Sector
With over 6,000 employees in more than 20 nations, Statkraft stands out as one of the leaders in hydropower at the international level and the largest producer of renewable energy in Europe. In Brazil, the company positions itself as one of the leading wind energy generators, exceeding the mark of 2 GW of installed capacity, among projects under construction and operation.
