Subsea 7 announced on Monday (02) the awarding of a significant contract (1) by Total E&P do Brasil (2) for the development of the Lapa Nordeste field, located approximately 300 kilometers off the coast of the State of São Paulo, at a depth of 2,150 meters in the Santos pre-salt basin. The scope of work includes transportation, installation, and pre-commissioning of 35 kilometers of flexible pipes and 20 kilometers of umbilical, connecting 5 wells to the FPSO Cidade de Caraguatatuba. Project management and detailed engineering will start immediately at Subsea 7’s office in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Offshore activities are expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2019.

The Lapa field is operated by Petrobras, but an agreement signed with Total in December 2017 transferred the operation and the sale of 35% of its stake to the French company.
The Lapa field is located in the former area of block BM-S-9, with Total holding 35% of the area in partnership with Shell (30%), Repsol Sinopec Brasil (25%), and Petrobras (10%).
