Drilling Has Started at the Lapa Field, Pre-Salt of the Santos Basin by Total E&P at Production Well 7-LPA-5D-SPS
The oil company Total has started drilling at the Lapa field, in the pre-salt of the Santos Basin last week, on July 30, using the DS-9 rig from Valaris (formerly EnscoRowan). This is the first well of this type contracted by Total since it took over the operation of the field, previously operated by Petrobras. This well is part of the investments to extend the production system of Lapa.
Previously, Total E&P completed the drilling of the injection well 8-LPA-4D-SPS. The Valaris rig is contracted for a campaign of four wells, with two options for an additional well.

The Lapa field, in the Santos Basin, was acquired by Total from Petrobras in January 2018 for US$ 1.95 billion. As the majority partner, holding 35%, Total operates the field, with its partners being Repsol-Sinopec, with 25%, and Petrobras with 10%.
Currently, the Lapa field in the Santos Basin produces through six production wells connected to the FPSO Cidade de Caraguatatuba (100,000 barrels/day). The average production in the first five months of the year was 30,000 barrels/day.
Brazilian drilling data is updated weekly in the Drilling Monitor, which compiles the available wells in the ANP database. by – epbr
Subsea 7 Wins the Bid and Will Provide PLSV Vessel for Oil Company Total
A troubled bidding process for Oil Company Total has finally come to an end. Subsea 7 was declared the winner of the bidding process and will provide a PLSV vessel (a specialized vessel for laying flexible subsea lines) to carry out activities at the Lapa field, in the pre-salt of the Santos Basin.
The bidding was supposed to end last May, but the French Total recently made some important modifications to the contractual terms of the PLSV, reducing the proposed scope of work to meet its new requirements for the Lapa field, leading the company to request a new bidding process, and causing offshore service providers to submit new commercial prices.
