New generation of Roomba robots bets on extreme suction, artificial intelligence, and automated cleaning to compete with Asian brands that dominate the premium home vacuum market. Models arrive smaller, more powerful, and with features capable of washing, drying, and sanitizing the cloth without constant intervention.
iRobot has introduced a new generation of Roomba robots focusing on stronger suction, intelligent navigation, and automated wet cleaning, in an attempt to regain space in a market currently dominated by competitors such as Roborock, Ecovacs, and Shark.
In total, the line includes eight models with versions reaching 30,000 Pa of suction, as well as a more compact design and automatic bases capable of emptying dirt, washing cloths, and performing drying without the need for constant intervention.
After facing financial difficulties and undergoing a restructuring process, the company responsible for popularizing the home vacuum robot is trying to regain prominence in the automated cleaning segment.

According to international technology publications, the brand now operates under the control of Shenzhen Picea Robotics and seeks to reposition Roombas with more competitive prices and functions previously limited to premium devices.
Roomba robots became smaller and more intelligent
One of the most noticeable changes involves the reduction in the size of the devices, a strategy adopted to improve cleaning performance in more difficult areas of the house.
In some cases, the new models became up to 25% smaller, maintaining a height close to 9 cm and facilitating passage under beds, sofas, racks, and other low furniture where larger devices usually face limitations.

In addition to the more compact structure, the company expanded the use of lidar navigation and sensors with artificial intelligence in an important part of the new generation.
As a result, the robots can map rooms more accurately, recognize obstacles scattered around the residence, and reduce jams caused by wires, shoes, toys, or objects left on the floor.
The power gain is another central point of the update.
More advanced models in the Roomba Max and Roomba Plus family reach up to 30,000 Pa of suction, a figure that puts the new devices in direct competition with top-of-the-line robots sold by Asian rivals.
Technology with hot spray promises to remove difficult stains
Among the new features of the new line is the hot spot mopping, a system that applies hot and pressurized spray on dry dirt before the scrubbing process.
The purpose of the technology is to facilitate the removal of more resistant stains on the floor, including hardened splashes, sticky residues, and marks that would normally require more intense manual cleaning.
Along with the heated spray, some versions also combine a rotating mop, smart sensors, and automatic water control to adapt cleaning according to the type of environment.
In premium devices, the automatic base also empties the dust reservoir, washes the cloth with hot water, and uses heated air for drying, reducing the user’s frequent contact with dirt and moisture.
The Roomba Max 775 Combo appears as one of the main names of the new wave in the European market, with AutoWash dock and a complete automation package.
The line, however, varies by region, and the official iRobot page in the United States currently highlights the Roomba Max 705 Combo with AutoWash Dock, sold for $1,299.99.
Prices of the new Roomba start in a more accessible range

In the United Kingdom and other European markets, announced prices start at £229 for the Roomba 115 and reach £799 for the Roomba Max 775 Combo.
With this strategy, the company expands its entry range and tries to attract consumers interested in home automation without paying the traditionally high prices for top-of-the-line models.
At the same time, the new family includes intermediate options, such as Roomba Plus versions equipped with a rotating mop, high suction, and automatic bases aimed at simplified maintenance.
This division allows iRobot to offer advanced features at different price ranges, without concentrating all functions only in the most expensive product.
In Brazil, the brand’s official store displays the Roomba Max 705+ Combo with AutoWash Dock Base for R$8,499.99 when paying via Pix, but there is no confirmed arrival of the Roomba Max 775 Combo in the Brazilian market.
The absence of local information about the Max 775 is relevant because the availability of Roomba models often varies by country.
Therefore, the price in pounds or dollars does not represent the official value for Brazilian consumers, as taxes, distribution, warranty, and importation can significantly alter the final cost.
The robot vacuum market has become more competitive
The new generation highlights how the robot vacuum market has moved beyond just basic suction and started competing for more advanced features.
Currently, manufacturers compete for features such as automatic cloth washing, heated drying, intelligent obstacle recognition, more precise mapping, and simultaneous cleaning of dust and light liquids.
In this more competitive scenario, iRobot is trying to regain prominence by combining the historical strength of the Roomba brand with technologies that have become standard among premium competitors.
The focus is on lower devices, more complete bases, and wet cleaning systems capable of reducing manual steps in everyday use.
Even so, the new features do not eliminate the need for maintenance.
Even with automatic bases, the user needs to change water, remove accumulated dirt, replace filters, clean brushes, and monitor the wear of cloths, especially in homes with pets, carpets, or high traffic.
The redesign also indicates a change in how the brand presents its products.
Instead of a few expensive models, iRobot is now working with a broader family, ranging from compact and affordable versions to equipment with complete automated cleaning features.
For now, the main impact for Brazilian consumers is to see if the new global Roomba models will officially arrive in the country and in which versions.
Until then, the models already available on the national website remain a local reference for those seeking warranty, support, and regularized purchases.
