New Nissan SUV Reaches Average of 15 Km/L on the Highway and Competes with Larger Models
The new Nissan Kicks Platinum surprised in one aspect that is often decisive for many consumers: fuel consumption.
During tests conducted by CNN Brasil, the compact SUV achieved an average of 15 km/l on the highway, even running on gasoline.
This result places the model on a level close to that of the Creta Ultimate, a larger SUV that had also been evaluated by the broadcaster.

It costs R$ 80,000 today, but was once worth R$ 900,000: the “rich man’s cast-off car” attracts with its luxury, but conceals high-standard maintenance that can turn into a loss.
The brand shows that, despite the high price, efficiency can be one of the great attractions of the new generation.
Compact Turbo Engine Shows Efficiency
The secret to the good performance lies in the renewed mechanical set.
The Kicks now features a 1.0 turbo three-cylinder engine, produced by Horse, the same one that equips the Renault Kardian.
It has 125 horsepower and 20.4 kgfm of torque, combined with a dual-clutch automated transmission (DCT) lubricated with oil.
This configuration ensures quick responses while preventing excessive engine strain at high RPMs, which contributes to low consumption.
Performance Also Pleases in the City
Although the highlight is on road use, urban tests also showed positive numbers.
According to CNN Brasil, on a 120-kilometer route with heavy traffic, the average was 9.1 km/l in the city, using gasoline.
The presence of the Start-Stop system, which turns off the engine at stops, helps to curb fuel consumption in congested areas.
In more open conditions, the tendency is for urban consumption to improve even further.
Efficiency Becomes an Advantage in the Premium Segment
In practice, efficient consumption can be one of the differentiators of the Kicks Platinum in a niche that already exceeds R$ 200,000.
With averages that rival those of larger, more expensive SUVs, the model shows that it is not necessary to sacrifice efficiency to have technology and comfort.
The set that combines good performance, balanced dynamics, and contained consumption reinforces the appeal of Nissan’s top-of-the-line version, which seeks to carve out space among Brazil’s premium compact SUVs.
