TechnipFMC starts the year by closing a contract with Petrobras, this time focused on the Búzios 6 project, located in the Santos Basin pre-salt. The value of the new contract between the companies is between US$ 500 million and US$ 1 billion

TechnipFMC is starting 2022 with a new and important contract with Petrobras. The company announced that it closed an Engineering, Acquisition, Construction and Installation (EPCI) agreement for the Búzios 6 project, located in the Santos Basin pre-salt. The agreement provides for the supply of rigid and flexible tubes, umbilicals, rigid jumpers, duct terminals, umbilical termination sets and an anchoring system.

According to Jonathan Landes, President of Subsea at TechnipFMC, the company is excited to announce the contract with Petrobras, which demonstrates the continued strength of the domestic subsea market as well as its collaborative relationship with Petrobras.

TechnipFMC uses its in-depth knowledge of customer needs to come up with technological solutions created specifically for the Búzios 6 field, in the Santos Basin pre-salt. The exact value of the deal between TechnipFMC and Petrobras was not announced, but according to one of the companies, the value is between US$ 500 million and US$ 1 billion.

The flexible tubes, underwater and umbilical structures, as well as some of the rigid tubes, will be produced by TechnipFMC in the national territory. The company also said that the project will also offer business to its national supply chain.

TecnipFMC had already closed other contracts with Petrobras

This is the second contract signed between TechnipFMC and Petrobras for the Búzios 6 project. The first, signed in June last year, provides for the supply of subsea equipment for Búzios 6, located in the pre-salt of the Santos Basin, with been valued between US$250 to US$500 million.

There is still an expectation that TechnipFMC will sign a contract with Petrobras for the underwater collection system, better known as SURF, for the 7th module in Búzios. The company presented the best proposal in the Petrobras tender.

“Among other contracts signed between TechnipFMC and Petrobras are the supply of flexible pipelines for five other fields located in the Campos Basin and the eight manifolds for production and injection in the Marlim and Voador fields, signed in April and December of this year. last year, respectively”, highlights mario ortiz – Senior Supply Chain Executive at Vibra Energia via Linkedin.

Discover the Búzios 6 project

The Búzios 6 project, in the Santos Basin pre-salt, will be the field's sixth definitive production system. Petrobras also hired SBM Offshore to implement the FPSO that will operate in the area, the Almirante Tamandaré.

The vessel is expected to begin operations in the second half of 2024. It will be the largest oil production unit in operation off the coast of Brazil and also one of the largest in the world, capable of processing more than 225 barrels of oil and 12 million m³ of natural gas per day.
