With A Solid Commitment To The Environment, Allied To The Developments Of The Communities Surrounding Its Operations.
With all this purpose, Appian Capital Brazil, a private investment fund specialized in mining, advances with even more management style that brings results from smart mining, and closes the year 2022 with record results in exports.
There are more than 198,290 tons of copper and sulfide nickel that were shipped to Canada, China, Finland, and Poland. This volume is 66% higher than the same period in 2021, when exports totaled around 119,334 tons.
Since this British-origin fund, with nearly 4 years of operation in our Brazilian market, took over all the management of the assets Atlantic Nickel and Mineração Vale Verde (MVV). “We are very pleased with the results achieved throughout 2022. Through our smart mining model, we managed to increase production safely and responsibly. The numbers demonstrate our growth trajectory. With this, we will certainly have more prominence in the international market in 2023,” explains the CFO of Appian Capital Brazil, Milson Mudim.

Without producing a single ton of copper today, Argentina wants to become one of the ten largest producers of the metal in the world by 2035, betting on the Andes deposits and billion-dollar incentives from the Milei government to unlock projects that have been stalled for decades.
For this year, with the increasing production of the two assets, Appian Capital Brazil expects to increase exports even further, by 8%. In 2022, in addition to all the monthly shipments made by Atlantic Nickel, Mineração Vale Verde (MVV) exported eight other vessels.
The investment fund and its assets continue to follow the commitments of intelligent management, which is focused on sustainable development, alongside the commitment to communities, without losing sight of the purpose of reaching their great production potential safely.
Atlantic Nickel (ATN): Export Performance For 2022
With a shipment of 9,402 tons of sulfide nickel concentrate, Atlantic Nickel (ATN), the only producer of sulfide nickel in Brazil, made its twelfth shipment at the end of 2022, in late December.
The ship went from the Port of Ilhéus (BA) to the port of Maceió, from where it headed to Finland. All shipments from 2022 had destinations of: Canada, North America, Finland, Europe, China, and Asia. In total, this asset exported over 116,000 tons of nickel concentrate, equivalent to approximately 15,670 tons of contained nickel.
Since the start of operations at the Santa Rita Mine in October 2019, Atlantic Nickel still maintains its commitment to work on behalf of sustainable developments, without losing sight of the goal of achieving maximum production potential.
This sulfide nickel concentrate is a high-quality raw material and a fundamental component in the manufacture of batteries for electric vehicles. On a global scale, under increasing demand, it is one of the metals considered the most versatile and resilient in nature, serving as a crucial utility for building a sustainable society through clean energy generation, capable of creating a low-carbon future.
