Tenenge Completes Construction of Gas Terminal South in Santa Catarina, Enabling Greater Supply of Liquefied Natural Gas for Industries and Local Population.
Tenenge recently completed the construction of the Gas Terminal South, a landmark in the Bay of Babitonga, in Santa Catarina. With the end of commissioning and performance testing, the Gas Terminal South is ready to operate, ensuring a greater supply of liquefied natural gas for both industries and the local residents.
This new Terminal represents a significant advance in local energy infrastructure. The work of Tenenge, a company of OEC specialized in industrial construction, was crucial for the execution of this project. Additionally, the Gas Terminal South, also known as TGS, promises to boost the regional economy. The increase in the supply of liquefied natural gas brings development and efficiency to various sectors. Finally, the Terminal is expected to become a reference in the energy sector in Santa Catarina.
With the completion of the work, the definitive operation transfer of the terminal to New Fortress Energy, which owns the Gas Terminal South (TGS), has been carried out. According to Marco Aurélio Barros, Contract Director at Tenenge and responsible for the project, this is a work that inaugurates a new era for the economy of Santa Catarina, enabling a greater supply of natural gas for industries and the general population.

Gas Terminal South and Its Benefits for Santa Catarina
‘We delivered this work to a high-level client, which brings immediate benefits to the population of the state of Santa Catarina. We are grateful for the opportunity to participate in such a relevant and challenging project’, Barros affirms. The completion of the Gas Terminal South allows for the supply of up to 15 million cubic meters of natural gas per day, which means an increase of more than three times the total previously available in the state of Santa Catarina. Located 300 meters off the coast of the city of São Francisco do Sul, the Gas Terminal South has the infrastructure capable of receiving and storing liquefied natural gas (LNG), regasifying, and distributing it.
TGS Infrastructure and the Natural Gas Transportation System
The gas arrives at the terminal by sea through methane ships, being transferred by the ship-to-ship system to the floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) Energos Winter, already docked at the Terminal. The storage capacity of TGS is 160 thousand cubic meters of LNG. Additionally, the Gas Terminal South is connected to GASBOL (Bolivia-Brazil Gas Pipeline) through 33 km of 20-inch pipes, allowing the distribution of natural gas to various municipalities in southern Brazil.
