Trackfy Develops Technology to Increase Safety in Classified Areas of Offshore Oil Platforms, Certified by Inmetro.
Trackfy has created a technological innovation aimed at enhancing safety in classified areas of offshore oil platforms. This advancement is certified by Inmetro and seeks to ensure a safer working environment for professionals who work in these regions.
Focusing on workplace safety, the company has introduced effective safety measures that offer high protection against explosion risks. With this technology, it aims to significantly reduce incidents, providing workers with a more trustworthy and secure environment.
Impact of Explosions in Factories in Brazil
Studies indicate that annually, 5 to 10 factories in Brazil may experience large-scale explosions. These incidents highlight the urgent need for adequate safety and protection measures for workers. In response to this emerging safety need, Trackfy, a technology developer focused on safety in industrial plants and large construction sites, has taken a significant step by creating technology capable of operating in classified zones and explosive atmospheres.

Petrobras completes 1,300 hours of work and 15 km of subsea lines to connect the Búzios 90 well to the P-79 — the platform is ready to produce 180,000 barrels per day and is just awaiting ANP approval.
The innovative technology from Trackfy, designed to meet the rigorous standards of classified zones, has received the Inmetro certification. Such certification not only ensures safety but also grants a competitive advantage to the company in the market, expanding its ability to operate in higher-risk areas.
Certification and Operating Capacity
After an extensive process, Trackfy obtained a relevant certification from Inmetro, legally protecting its technology and ensuring exclusive rights. Túlio Cerviño, founder and CEO of Trackfy, states: ‘Our technology is legally protected, granting exclusive rights to our company.’ Túlio also emphasizes that operating in explosive atmospheres requires special attention to the extent of the classified zones.
For example, fuel tanks are divided according to risk levels: zone zero, inside the tank, is the most dangerous, with a constant presence of explosive gases; zone 1, adjacent to zone zero, has frequent explosion risks; and zone 2, a nearby area, presents lower risk, with less likely explosions. ‘Now we can place our signal-emitting devices closer to the most dangerous zones, further enhancing workplace safety and the effectiveness of our solution,’ highlights Túlio.
Technological Developments for Explosive Zones
To meet safety requirements in classified zones, a new device had to be developed, similar to the one already used by the company on construction sites and industrial plants throughout Brazil. Combining Internet of Things (IoT), data analysis, and advanced algorithms, the new technological solution provides managers with online and real-time analysis of work environments, using signal-emitting devices installed in workers’ helmets and badges.
‘For classified zones 1 and 2, it was necessary to create another device that met specific requirements. We can assert that we improved our receiver to operate in higher-risk areas, such as offshore oil platforms and internal areas of agricultural silos’, explains Cerviño. Trackfy’s solution is already recognized for its significant benefits, such as reducing evacuation times in emergencies by up to 30%.
Adaptation and Viability in the Market
Large corporations in the chemical, agriculture, steel, mining, construction, and oil sectors utilize Trackfy’s technology. ‘To use the device, no special training is required. It operates without the need for recharging and can reach a radius of 50 meters,’ emphasizes Cerviño.
In a recent survey, the company pointed out that the Brazilian market for real-time location systems (RTLS) has the potential to move R$ 10 billion just in 2024, while the global market may reach US$ 22 billion by 2026. This growth demonstrates the increasing concern with safety and operational efficiency in high-risk industries, as well as valuing technologies that enhance workplace safety and worker protection.
For Cerviño, the development of the RTLS market is crucial for Brazil to reach Industry 5.0, which integrates technological revolution with human welfare. ‘A solution based on data analytics, digitization, and IoT, which provides real-time data, insights, and indicators, makes workplaces safer and more productive, placing humans at the center of the benefits,’ he states.
