Contract with Repsol Sinopec Strengthens Oil Transshipment Operations at Porto Central.
Porto Central, located in Presidente Kennedy (ES), took another strategic step to consolidate its position in the oil and gas sector. Last Monday (7), a new oil transshipment contract was announced with Repsol Sinopec, one of the largest oil and gas producers in the country.
State-of-the-art Infrastructure Attracts Industry Giants
The partnership aims to strengthen operations at the liquid bulk terminal of the complex, which is under construction. The location was chosen due to its strategic position on the southern coast of Espírito Santo and its infrastructure designed to accommodate large vessels.
The operation will take place at the liquid bulk terminal of Phase 1 of Porto Central, which will feature deep waters and suitable infrastructure for large ships, such as VLCCs (Very Large Crude Carriers). The goal is to ensure greater efficiency, safety, and predictability in oil transshipment operations.

The partnership with Repsol Sinopec adds to other contracts already established by Porto Central with companies such as Petrobras, Equinor, and CNOOC.
These agreements reinforce the terminal’s potential to become a national logistics hub for oil transshipment.
Additionally, the port project stands out for its cluster concept, which groups terminals and industries with similar activities. This approach enhances synergy between operations and optimizes the efficiency of port activities.
Who is Repsol Sinopec and Its Strategic Role in Brazil
Founded in 2010 as a joint venture between the Spanish Repsol (60%) and the Chinese Sinopec (40%), Repsol Sinopec is one of the leading private companies operating in the exploration and production of oil and gas in Brazil.
With a strong presence in the pre-salt layer, the company occupies a strategic position in fields with high production potential, such as block BM-C-33, in the Campos Basin.
The company is also a pioneer in ship-to-ship (STS) operations in Brazilian waters, which reinforces its expertise in the operations that now integrate the new contract with Porto Central.
Oil Transshipment Will Be Done Safely and Efficiently
Oil transshipment at Porto Central promises to boost the region’s logistical movement, with significant gains in safety and operational efficiency.
The Phase 1 terminal has been designed to meet the growing demand of the oil and gas sector, with robust infrastructure and modern equipment.
With the new partnership, the complex is preparing to meet the technical requirements of oil operations, ensuring a constant flow of barrels between vessels with total logistical and environmental control.
