50,000 People Die In Traffic Accidents Each Year
One of the main concerns related to the development of the transport sector in Brazil is linked to safer traffic, with fewer deaths and accidents. Daily occurrences on the country’s highways generate significant social and economic costs.
With deaths from accidents, there are several traumas generated in society and impacts on the economy. Brazil records around 14 daily deaths on federal highways, and there is an average of 50,000 deaths per year from accidents, some involving trucks and trailers. Information and studies reveal that heavier vehicles are not present in most incidents.
Accidents involving passenger cars account for 60%, while motorcycles account for 40%, and trucks come last with only 20%.
