According to the portal istoedinheiro, Donald Trump stated that “without tariffs, the US would be destroyed”, emphasizing that the trillions raised from taxation were crucial for the economy and to sustain national security. Despite harshly criticizing what he calls “radical left judges”, the former president surprised many by publicly thanking a Democrat judge appointed by Barack Obama, who voted in favor of partially maintaining the tariffs.

Last Friday (29), the U.S. Court of Appeals upheld the decision that part of the tariffs imposed during the Trump administration was deemed illegal. The measure reignited the debate about the future of global trade and the validity of the strategy of American protectionism.
