The University of the State of Minas Gerais opened the selection process for the free specialization in School Management, offered in the Distance Learning mode with 420 hours of workload and 18 months of duration.
There are 250 spots distributed across in-person support poles of the UAB System in Minas Gerais, with classes expected to start in March 2026.
The course is free under the CAPES–UEMG agreement and grants specialist certificate to graduates.

Course Structure and Operation
The training is structured in three modules and combines asynchronous activities, synchronous online moments, and in-person actions at accredited poles.
The announcement provides for one in-person meeting at the beginning of the course and opens the possibility for additional scheduling if necessary.
There may also be an in-person seminar or synchronous online defense at the end, according to academic organization.
The minimum requirement for approval is 70% in each subject and in the Final Course Project (TCC).
The Module I brings together foundational content for public and educational management, with six components of 30 hours each, totaling 180 hours.
In it, the student covers Introduction to Distance Learning, Politics and Society, Public Policies, Public Management, Research Methodology, and Pedagogical Project in School Management.
In Module II, the focus shifts to topics applied to the school routine: Financial and Asset Planning in Educational Organizations (45h), People Management in Schools (30h), Project Development and Evaluation in Schools (45h), Administrative Processes and Accountability in Education (30h), and TCC 1 (30h), totaling another 180 hours.
Module III concludes the course with Public Education in Brazil: Legislation and Evaluation Systems (30h) and TCC 2 (30h), completing the 420 hours expected.
Who Can Enroll
Those who have completed a degree in any field of knowledge that meets the requirements of the announcement can apply.
The selection reserves 50% of spots for public agents at federal, state, or municipal levels who can prove operational work in Education or School Management.
The remaining spots are open for general competition.
The application requires internet access and basic computer skills for interaction with the teaching staff and document submission.
Support Poles and Distribution of Spots
Opportunities are distributed among in-person qualified poles of the UAB System.
The announcement lists Barbacena (São Sebastião/Associate), Barão de Cocais (Cidade Nova), Buritis (Bairro Veredas), Frutal (Cidade das Águas), Ipanema (Centro), and Poços de Caldas (Jardim Country Club/Associate).

Academic Organization and Certification
According to the pedagogical proposal, the schedule for subjects in each module will be announced in the first week of classes and may include class Saturdays.

At the end of the course, students develop the Final Course Project with guidance from the instructor.
Once the stages are completed, UEMG will issue specialization certificates according to internal regulations and current legislation for lato sensu courses in higher education.
Enrollment and Filling of Spots
UEMG will publish specific enrollment instructions in December, including a list of documents and detailed deadlines.
In case of vacant spots or the need for adjustments between poles, the announcement provides for reassignments and consultations with candidates for possible location changes, always following the ranking order.
The university also reserves the right to not open a class in any pole that does not reach 50% occupancy, offering alternatives when applicable.
