Bahia Stands Out in the Wind Sector
Currently, Brazil accounts for 10% of green jobs generated worldwide and ranks second in job generation in the energy sector, according to the International Renewable Energy Agency.
The wind sector is the second largest contributor to Brazilian energy production, second only to hydropower. There are over 900 plants that generate energy through wind turbines, 85% of them installed in the Northeast region.
Bahia leads the national ranking, with 312 plants in operation. According to the Electric Energy Commercialization Chamber (CCEE), the equipment produced about 29,000 GWh (Gigawatt-hours) in 2023, enough energy to supply 223 million homes.
By 2025, more than R$ 50 billion is expected to be invested in the implementation of 63 wind farms, according to data from the State Department of Economic Development (SDE).
