Volvo Is Conducting a Recall of 106,000 Defective Cars. Some Vehicles Have Errors in Brake Support Functions, but Brazilian Dealerships Have Not Yet Been Informed About the Process.
The vehicle manufacturer Volvo is conducting a recall of 106,000 cars worldwide, including the models X40, S60, XC40, V60, V60 Cross Country, V90, XC60, V90 Cross Country, S90, and XC90. The recall became prominent in Brazil with announcements from car manufacturers calling specific models for factory defect repairs. The call for defective Volvo cars began after the Swedish manufacturer found an error in the brake support functions. However, there should be no risk of the brakes failing suddenly.
Volvo Cars Also Have Software Defects
According to Volvo, there may be an error in the software related to the brakes and drivers do not necessarily need to be afraid of driving the defective cars. Nevertheless, Volvo is conducting the recall for all units that are at risk of experiencing the error.
Since the failure occurs in software, it is possible to fix it simply by updating the car’s control system, and in some cases, the repair can be done entirely remotely. However, since this does not apply to all cars, each owner receives unique instructions on how to deal with the defect.

Chevrolet Tornado Van 2026 emerges as a compact van cheaper than many popular cars in Brazil, with a 1.5 engine, 6-speed manual transmission, 650 kg load capacity, 3.3 m³ of usable space, and fuel consumption of up to 18.1 km/l for about R$ 87,000 in tax-free conversion; an urban utility vehicle that Brazilians don’t have, but Mexico does.

Forget the basic popular car: used sedans like Passat CC, Kia Cerato, Nissan Altima, Mitsubishi Lancer, and Volvo S60 show that it’s still possible to buy more performance, comfort, and technology for less than many new compacts.

Used Honda Civic: 3 versions of the Japanese sedan with naturally aspirated engines of up to 155 hp, fuel consumption of up to 13.8 km/l, robust automatic transmission, and a reputation for reliable mechanics still dominate the used car market in Brazil.

This way, they will know if it is really necessary to go ahead and perform the Volvo recall at the nearest dealership, or if the repair can be done through the cloud. In Brazil, Volvo’s Brazilian subsidiary confirmed in interviews that they have not yet received any notification about the defective cars recall, but they committed to clarify any questions that customers may have.
Volvo Previously Conducted Recalls on Models
Volvo announced a recall of six models in 2021 due to the risk of failure in the low fuel pressure sensor, which could be affected by the high ethanol content in national gasoline. The defect could impact models from 2013 to 2016 of the Volvo V40, S60, V40 Cross Country, XC60, V60, and XC90.
The contract of the low fuel pressure sensor with high ethanol fuel content could cause gradual corrosion of the electrical wire insulation of the component, posing a fire risk and short-circuiting if it comes into contact with fuel.
The repair involved replacing the LPS sensor in the vehicles called in this recall. The service had an estimated duration of 1 hour and could be scheduled at the brand’s dealerships on August 2, 2021.
