With the arrival of winter, the government stated that it will need to reactivate the plant, as hydroelectric plants are the main sources of energy for Brazilian capitals.

Sale of the Uruguaiana Plant

The AES Uruguaiana power plant was sold to the Argentine group Saesa Solución Energética. The president of the Parliamentary Front in Defense of the Reestablishment of Gas Production by Termo Uruguaiana, Deputy Frederico Antunes (PP), received confirmation of the sale in September from the CEO of AES Brazil Group, engineer Ítalo Freitas. Frederico had been waiting for the response to the negotiation for 40 days.
