After registering million-dollar losses, Shopee sank in the sales ranking on Black Friday, the largest e-commerce company based in Singapore, being overtaken by Brazilian retail companies, suffering quite a curious setback.
According to data from Cortex, a company recognized for data intelligence for marketing and sales, Shopee dropped from the most accessed site by consumers during the event held in 2021 and sank to 9th place during the period between November 21 and 27, 2022.
This year, Americanas surpassed Shopee and led the ranking, climbing from 15th place to first position.

Brazilians Spend Double on Black Friday 2022
Global Black Friday sales once again exceeded the previous year. According to Admitad, a tech company that holds one of the world’s largest performance technology ecosystems, the volume of orders placed by Brazilians increased by 59% compared to last year.
In addition, the cart value (average price) increased by 109% during the promotional week compared to the normal period. Once again, the three categories with the highest sales volume were clothing, home and decor items, and electronics. Meanwhile, the traditionally favored electronics category significantly declined this year.
