New Connection Reaches 280 Gbps and Surpasses Theoretical 5G Bandwidth by 14 Times, Approaching Global Launch by 2030
A test conducted by China Mobile demonstrated the impressive capability of the 6G network, which managed to download a 50 GB file in just 1.4 seconds. The connection reached a speed of 280 Gbps, greatly exceeding any current standard of mobile internet.
The experiment, conducted in July 2025, represents a significant advancement toward the next generation of mobile networks. With investments of over R$ 30 billion, China is leading the global race for 6G, which may reach the public as early as 2028.
6G Network Test Sets World Record Speed

The operator China Mobile set up a demonstration structure with ten locations dedicated exclusively to the development of the 6G network. During the test, the connection surpassed the limits of 5G technology, which has a maximum theoretical capacity of around 20 Gbps. The new standard was 14 times faster.

For 80 years, paleontologists dismissed the fossil as a teenage T. rex — until an analysis of the throat bone proved it was a distinct predator, ten times lighter and with larger claws than the largest carnivore in history.

Removed 119 years ago from a cave called Stinking Air in Australia, a fossil was forgotten in a museum until a researcher realized it was a relative of the platypus three times larger than the current ones.
The achieved speed — 280 gigabits per second — would allow a 4K Blu-ray quality movie to be downloaded every two seconds. The 6G satellite launched in 2024, at an altitude of 500 km, also contributed to the performance, increasing the transfer rate and reducing latency.
6G Network Launch Could Happen Before 2030
The Chinese government projects that the 6G network will be officially launched by 2030, but promising tests are accelerating this timeline. According to local authorities, partial release of the technology to the public may occur as early as 2028, initially in urban areas with advanced infrastructure.
Meanwhile, countries like the United States, South Korea, and Japan are also investing in the development of the new generation. In Brazil, Anatel has already announced that the auction for 6G frequencies is scheduled for October 2026, with national implementation estimated for 2032.
What Changes with the Arrival of 6G
The main promise of the 6G network is extreme speed with nearly zero latency. This means more stable connections, the ability to connect millions of devices simultaneously, and feasibility for applications such as remote surgeries, autonomous cars, and real-time metaverse.
The technology is also expected to surpass wired connections, expanding the use of mobile internet in industrial, rural, and remote areas. With speeds hundreds of times greater than 4G and dozens of times greater than 5G, 6G is likely to redefine global connectivity standards.
The test conducted in China solidifies the country as one of the leaders in the development of the 6G network, which promises to transform the internet in the coming years. With unprecedented speed and the potential to revolutionize entire sectors, the new standard still faces challenges regarding infrastructure, regulation, and global access.
