Xiaomi’s smart refrigerator combines ion purification, large internal capacity, and mobile integration in a project aimed at modern kitchens, promising to quickly reduce odors and better preserve food without occupying an area equivalent to traditional large refrigerators.
Xiaomi has expanded its line of smart appliances with the Mijia Refrigerator Pro 508L, a model aimed at the Chinese market that combines a capacity of 508 liters, built-in design, and internal purification features.
Available in French Door and Cross Door configurations, the refrigerator’s main appeal is the promise of removing odors in a few minutes, in addition to integrating connected functions into the brand’s ecosystem.
For consumers looking for a large refrigerator without sacrificing better kitchen utilization, the launch bets on more compact dimensions for the category.

According to information published by Canaltech, the appliance measures 792 x 597 x 1,925 mm and occupies 0.48 m² of area, a feature that favors installation in planned environments or with less available depth.
Xiaomi Mijia Pro 508L Refrigerator bets on quick purification
Among the most highlighted features of the Mijia Refrigerator Pro 508L is the Full-Area Ion Purification 4.0 system, a technology used to treat the air inside the refrigerated compartment.
According to the manufacturer, cited by Canaltech, the feature removes odors and acts in the elimination of bacteria inside the refrigerator, reinforcing the food preservation proposal.
The specialized publication Gizmochina claims that the system removes smells in 3 minutes and sterilizes bacteria, fungi, and viruses with an efficiency of 99.9999% in 2 minutes.
In addition to the action against odors and microorganisms, the same source informs that the equipment neutralizes ethylene gas, a substance associated with the ripening of fruits and vegetables, and includes antibacterial protection with silver ions.
In practice, Xiaomi’s proposal is to reduce the mixing of odors and improve the preservation of fresh food inside a large refrigerator.
To better separate the internal environments, the model uses independent evaporators and fans in the refrigeration and freezing areas, preventing fresh and frozen foods from sharing the same airflow.
Capacity of 508 liters occupies only 0.48 m²
With a total capacity of 508 liters, the refrigerator divides the internal space into three main areas, designed to accommodate foods with different preservation needs.
The refrigerator has 297 liters, while the freezer adds 176 liters and the variable temperature zone offers another 35 liters, enhancing flexibility in daily use.
This variable temperature area allows organizing items that require specific conditions, especially when there is a need to separate meats, vegetables, frozen foods, or frequently consumed products.
Although Xiaomi positions the product as a large capacity solution, the design with reduced depth aims to prevent the refrigerator from protruding too much into the kitchen circulation.
Another feature mentioned by sources is the moisture retention system for fruits and vegetables, designed to better preserve fresh foods in the refrigerated compartment.
According to Gizmochina, Xiaomi uses a molecular sieve technology to keep products fresh for up to seven days, while Canaltech also mentions the proposal for better internal utilization and organization.
In terms of finish, the model follows the brand’s line of premium appliances, with an external steel panel and treatment aimed at resistance against oil stains, scratches, and daily wear.
This choice caters to both visual appeal and ease of cleaning in modern kitchens, especially in environments where the refrigerator is integrated into the cabinetry or exposed in the social area.
Noise of 31 dB and control via mobile phone
Even with 508 liters, the Mijia Refrigerator Pro 508L was introduced with an operation of 31 dB, a low noise level for a large appliance.
To balance performance, efficiency, and silence, the design combines an inverter compressor and a forced air cooling system, a common solution in equipment aimed at more stable operation.
Connectivity is also part of Xiaomi’s strategy to differentiate the product within the smart appliance segment.
According to Gizmochina, the refrigerator includes HyperOS Connect and an internal smart screen, while Canaltech states that the device is compatible with the brand’s ecosystem and can integrate with connected devices.
With this integration, the user can monitor functions and settings of the refrigerator through Xiaomi’s platform, a feature aligned with the advancement of connected homes.
More than allowing remote control, the proposal is to insert the appliance into the home automation routine, alongside other smart devices from the Chinese manufacturer.
Gizmochina also mentions an optional automatic ice-making module, capable of producing ice in up to 55 minutes.
In this set, the feature includes antibacterial materials in the water reservoir, the tray, and the storage area, as well as smart alerts for low water level or full compartment.
Availability of Xiaomi refrigerator is still limited
The Mijia Refrigerator Pro 508L arrives first in China, a market where Xiaomi maintains a wide range of smart appliances under the Mijia brand.
So far, the consulted sources do not indicate a confirmed forecast for global sales or official arrival in Brazil, an important point for consumers interested in the product.
This lack of international confirmation is significant because many products in the Mijia line remain restricted to the Chinese market or reach other countries only through independent importation.
Under these conditions, connected features, technical assistance, and platform compatibility may vary depending on the region of use, especially outside the markets officially served by Xiaomi.
Although the title highlights a break from the traditional refrigerator, the product positions itself more accurately as an evolution of the smart refrigerators already sold by Xiaomi.
The combination of ion purification, mobile control, low noise, and large capacity reinforces the company’s focus on connected appliances for planned kitchens.
