Volkswagen T-Cross Surprises Enthusiasts and Returns to Being the Best-Selling SUV in Brazil. Surpassing the Toyota Corolla Cross, the Model Has Sold 4,199 Units This Month in February.
With less than a week until the end of February, the Fiat Strada has a good chance of remaining the best-selling light commercial vehicle in Brazil. In the passenger car segment, the VW Polo is expected to continue leading, remaining the best-selling model in the country. However, the ranking of the 10 best-selling vehicles brings surprises and unexpected returns, including the Volkswagen T-Cross, which surpassed the Toyota Corolla Cross and now occupies the position of best-selling SUV in Brazil.
Volkswagen T-Cross Surprises by Surpassing Sales of the Toyota Corolla Cross
Despite the surprises, the numbers are still low. To put it into perspective, according to data from the National Federation of Automotive Vehicle Distribution (Fenabrave) from last Thursday (20), the Fiat Strada sold an average of 14,000 units when considering all months of the past semester (from July to December 2024).
Now, however, the pickup is showing significantly fewer than 6,300 units sold. In January, which is already considered a poor sales month, there were 8,777 registrations. However, there are still a few days left to finalize the numbers, and much can happen.

Although there are substantial chances of the leadership and vice-leadership remaining intact this month compared to January, the third place already has a new occupant. It is the Volkswagen T-Cross, which surpasses the Toyota Corolla Cross and returns to being the best-selling SUV in Brazil. It is worth recalling that last month, the VW model had lost the position to the Chevrolet Tracker. This model, by the way, was left out of the top 10 in the month’s preview.
Volkswagen T-Cross Also Remained Among the Best-Selling of 2024
In addition to surpassing the Toyota Corolla Cross in sales in February, the Volkswagen T-Cross was also the best-selling SUV in Brazil in 2024. Throughout the year, the model sold 83,990 units and achieved a share of nearly 9%.
The sales number was also higher than the previous year, when the model was also the annual leader in the category. There were 72,440 cars sold that year.
Still regarding the registration ranking, just below the Volkswagen T-Cross, the Chevrolet Tracker held the vice-leadership, with 69,431 registrations, a significant difference compared to the segment leader.
Returning to February 2025 sales, in the pickup segment, in addition to the Fiat Strada, another model that has been impressing is the VW Saveiro. The model has already secured the 7th position in the ranking of best-selling light commercial vehicles. It is worth mentioning that the vehicle was not even among the top 20 last month. The Top 10 is distributed as follows:
- 1st) Fiat Strada – 6,279;
