Boxabl’s modular home gained fame after Elon Musk’s statement, but still has limited delivery to the United States and prices starting from US$150,000
The so-called Tesla modular home, a connection attributed to the technology used, is produced by Boxabl, not the automaker, costs from US$150,000, and can currently only be shipped to 15 states in the United States. But, will it be delivered in Brazil? The answer, for now, is that it’s unlikely, as deliveries are limited to only a few US states.
Origin of the home linked to Elon Musk
The model became known in 2021 when Elon Musk, founder of Tesla, said he lived in a Boxabl prefabricated home. The statement caused the company’s order numbers to rise significantly.
Despite the association on social media, the house is not a Tesla product. The manufacturer is the American startup Boxabl, focused on developing foldable modular homes.

How the modular home works
The company’s main product is the Casita, a prefabricated modular home that comes ready from the factory. It is transported folded and opened only at the chosen installation site.
The proposal is to simplify and standardize construction. The initial price includes shipping and assembly in serviced areas, which reinforces the model of faster and more controlled construction.
What comes in the Studio model
The Casita Studio, the best-known version, has 33 square meters. The unit includes a full kitchen with a large refrigerator, double sink, oven, stove, microwave, and cabinets.
The bathroom is also complete, with a deep shower, sink, toilet, illuminated mirror, and sliding door. The living room features composite flooring, large windows, a washer and dryer, and climate control.
The structure is designed to arrive ready for the customer, with predefined environments and installed items. This format helps explain the attention generated by the modular home after Musk’s statement.
Prices and larger versions
On the official website, the Studio model, the smallest option in the line, appears with an initial price of US$150,000. The value includes shipping and installation only in regions already served by Boxabl.
The company also lists larger models. The one-bedroom version starts at US$195,000, while the two-bedroom option begins at US$205,000.
In approved states, the process begins with a US$1,000 feasibility study fee. Afterward, the sales team evaluates the project before permits and site preparation.
Delivery is still limited
The Casita can currently be shipped to only 15 states in the United States. Boxabl itself states that it seeks approval in all 50 states before beginning international expansion.
Therefore, the modular home is still far from Brazil, despite social media posts suggesting otherwise.
The installation period depends on local licenses and infrastructure, and may vary according to each project.
