Xiaomi’s global model combines washing and drying in a compact body, with connected programs, hygienic steam, and intelligent sensors. Aimed at smaller laundries and planned furniture, the product reinforces the brand’s commitment to home appliances controlled by software.
With the Mijia Front Load Washer Dryer 8kg, Xiaomi has added to its global catalog a front-loading washer dryer that features a 535 mm deep body, 525 mm drum, over 30 programs, and control via the Xiaomi Home app.
The equipment’s proposal combines washing and drying in a single machine, targeting homes where space-saving, connectivity, and integration into planned cabinets have become important factors in choosing laundry appliances.
In compact environments, such as apartments and integrated service areas, the model appears as an alternative for those who do not have space to install separate washer and dryer, without giving up automated features for daily use.

The “one touch wash and dry” function, highlighted by Xiaomi, allows executing a complete washing and drying cycle with a single selection, bringing the product closer to the practicality logic adopted in other smart devices by the brand.
Slim washer dryer for planned furniture
Among the most highlighted points of the Mijia Front Load Washer Dryer 8kg is the ultra-slim design, developed to reduce the machine’s projection in cabinets and facilitate installation in planned carpentry projects.
According to Xiaomi, the 535 mm depth considers the distance between the back of the appliance and the front panel of the door, a measurement designed to reduce the protruding aspect common in conventional machines.
With this configuration, the washer dryer tends to fit better in planned laundries, preserving circulation, visual alignment, and a more discreet appearance in spaces where every centimeter affects the organization of the environment.
Internally, the 525 mm drum was presented by the manufacturer as a feature to enhance the movement of clothes, a step that influences both the mechanical action of washing and the air circulation during drying.
In front-loading machines, this additional space can contribute to a freer fall of clothes inside the drum, helping the equipment to work better in washing, spinning, and drying cycles.
Washing programs connected to the app
The Mijia Front Load Washer Dryer 8kg offers more than 30 programs, divided between 14 options accessible directly on the machine’s panel and another 16 available through the Xiaomi Home app.
This division shows how connectivity has become a central part of the product’s proposition, as some functions depend on the smartphone, while the main commands remain available on the appliance itself.
On the front panel, the colorful touch-sensitive interface gathers function indicators and cycle selection, replacing exclusively mechanical commands with navigation closer to the experience of connected devices.
Even so, the presence of direct controls prevents the machine’s use from always depending on the app, preserving practicality for quick washes or situations where the smartphone is not nearby.
Among the cycles mentioned by Xiaomi is the 15-minute quick wash, suitable for light loads of 1 kg to 2 kg and aimed at items with less dirt volume in daily use.
According to the manufacturer’s technical observations, this program operates with a fixed duration and does not automatically adjust time, an important feature to differentiate the function from longer and adaptable cycles.
Hygienic steam and delicate clothes washing
For hygiene care, the Hygiene mode uses high-temperature steam to penetrate fabrics and reduce microorganisms, without resorting to aggressive treatment that could compromise the items.
Xiaomi reports that the program achieved a reduction of over 99.9999% of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli in laboratory tests, although performance may vary under real usage conditions.
This type of feature meets a demand present in more modern washers, which have started to focus not only on removing visible dirt but also on sanitizing bed linens, towels, children’s clothes, and frequently used items.
As the manufacturer itself points out, steam is not available in all cycles, so the function should be understood as a specific feature within the machine’s program set.
Also aimed at cleaning, the Power Wash technology uses a triple action with low-friction flow, deeper fiber penetration jets, and reinforced rinsing to reduce foam residues.
With this combination, Xiaomi claims to seek a deeper wash in compatible programs, maintaining the proposal of fabric care and efficiency in stain removal.
Intelligent drying with precision sensors
In the drying stage, the Mijia Front Load Washer Dryer 8kg uses precision sensors to monitor temperature and duration in real-time, adjusting the operation according to the moisture level of the clothes.
According to Xiaomi, the system automatically ends the cycle when the items reach the appropriate level of dryness, a measure that helps prevent overheating and reduces the risk of fabric wear.
Another feature mentioned by the brand is the 180-minute Wash & Care program, associated with an airflow of 14.5 m/s under test conditions controlled by the manufacturer itself.
Performance, however, may vary depending on the type of fabric, load volume, usage environment, water pressure, and other measurement conditions stated in the product’s technical notes.
Through the Xiaomi Home app, users can remotely activate cycles, adjust programs, receive OTA updates, and maintain frequently used settings, enhancing control over the washing routine.
The platform also promises to recommend modes based on usage habits, reinforcing Xiaomi’s strategy of bringing automation and software features to traditionally manual household tasks.
Internal features and vibration reduction
The function package includes aromatic washing, refreshing steam care, and Refresh & Loosen, a feature that moves the drum when clothes remain inside the machine after the cycle ends.
As this function is turned off by default, activation needs to be done through the app, according to the product’s official description, especially for users who want to reduce odors caused by damp items forgotten inside the machine.
Stability also received attention in the design, with a multidimensional vibration reduction system, dual suspension, and four shock absorbers aimed at maintaining more controlled operation during phases of greater movement.
This set acts mainly during spinning, a stage where front-loading machines tend to generate more vibration when the load is poorly distributed inside the drum.
For internal protection, Xiaomi states that the washer-dryer has a stainless steel drying tunnel, high-temperature drum cleaning, antibacterial sealing on the door, and automatic rinsing to reduce accumulated foam.
These features reinforce the device’s positioning as a connected machine, but also focused on maintaining the washing area and caring for internal parts subject to moisture and residues.
The global Xiaomi page also states that the Mijia Front Load Washer Dryer 8kg received the iF Design Award in February 2024, with certificate no. 646960.
The recognition accompanies the brand’s strategy to expand its presence beyond smartphones and accessories, bringing connectivity, discreet design, and automation to frequently used household products.
Commercial availability may vary by country, as the product appears in the manufacturer’s global portfolio and the presented specifications follow international references.
For consumers in markets where the model has not yet officially appeared in local retail, the novelty lies in Xiaomi’s advancement in a traditional home category, now with a compact body, sensors, steam, and app control.
Would a washer and dryer with hygienic steam, smart drying, and mobile commands truly change the routine of clothing care at home?
