Yaskawa Motoman Exhibited Robots at Fispal Tecnologia 2024. Visitors Learned About HC20DTP and PL190, Solutions for the Food Industry, Assisted by the Japanese Multinational.

Yaskawa Motoman showcased its robotic innovations at Fispal Tecnologia 2024. During the event, visitors had the opportunity to observe in action the HC20DTP and PL190 robots, specially developed for the food sector, demonstrating Yaskawa Motoman’s ability to provide advanced technological solutions for different industries.

At the robotics multinational’s booth, industry specialists explored various applications and possibilities offered by the company. Fispal Tecnologia represents a unique opportunity for Yaskawa Motoman to create new business partnerships, which often result in promising deals after the event Automation is one of the company’s main focuses, standing out as an influential robot manufacturer in the global scenario.

‘This repeated itself at this year’s edition, given that we received visitors from all over Brazil, interested in our available solutions, such as the collaborative robot HC20DTP, which was simulating palletizing, an essential application for the food industry‘, stated Márcio Garcia, Director of Robotic Solutions at Yaskawa Motoman. The fair took place from June 18 to 21 at São Paulo Expo in the capital.

Participation of Yaskawa Motoman at Fispal Tecnologia

As a leader in robot manufacturing, Yaskawa Motoman, a renowned robotics multinational and important industrial automation company, will celebrate 50 years of presence in Brazil in 2024. The company was present at Fispal Tecnologia, showcasing various industrial robots, such as the GP8, GP7, Scara SG650, and the PL190, in addition to the collaborative HC20DTP. This robot, developed to work alongside operators on the factory floor, has six axes and is robust enough to perform diverse operations, from assembly and material handling to pick and place activities, supporting a payload of up to 20kg.

Performance and Safety of HC20DTP

Created according to rigorous safety standards, the HC20DTP allows workers to operate near it. According to risk assessment, it can operate at speeds of up to 1,000 mm/s without the need for additional safety resources, saving space on the factory floor and reducing costs. During Fispal 2024, the collaborative HC20DTP demonstrated its application in palletizing alongside the industrial robot PL190, a model with four axes also used in the automation and robotization of processes, primarily in the food, beverage, logistics, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic industries. With a payload capacity of 190kg, the PL190 has a working range of over 3.59mm and a reachable stacking height of over 2.60mm.

Innovation at Fispal Tecnologia

Márcio Garcia, Director of Robotic Solutions at Yaskawa Motoman, highlighted that at Fispal Tecnologia the company, in collaboration with Bicafé, presented an innovative system where a barista robot served coffee to visitors. This was made possible thanks to the versatility of application of the GP8 robot, which is compact and fast. Similarly, the GP7 is an industrial cobot with six axes, capable of carrying up to 7kg. It has a reach of 927mm and high repeatability of ± 0.01mm, making it ideal for assembly, universal handling, and packaging tasks. Its modern, aerodynamic design takes up little installation space.

Versatility and Efficiency of Yaskawa Motoman Robots

The industrial SG650 Scara, also compact, was designed to facilitate integration with existing automation systems, minimizing assembly space. With four axes, it is meant for high-speed operation, especially to increase productivity in the processing of small parts. Highly precise and repeatable, the SG650 is ideal for assembly and sorting processes that require short cycle times, as well as being suitable for multiprocess systems with pick-and-place capability.

Impact of Robots on Industry

According to Márcio Garcia, each application demands a specific robot with skills suited to the job and work environment requirements. Garcia demystifies the view that industrial and collaborative robots will replace human workers in factories. ‘They were developed to increase productivity, quality, and competitiveness in a globalized market. They generate opportunities, both direct and indirect, and contribute to the growth of companies’, he explains.

The Robot as a Worker Ally

In fact, robots are allies of workers, especially when replacing repetitive functions that can cause repetitive strain injuries in humans. In such situations, workers can operate or program the robots, Garcia stated. He emphasized that these transformations are already happening in countries like Japan, the USA, China, Germany, and South Korea, while Brazil is still relatively behind. ‘In countries with the highest number of robots, unemployment rates are lower’, he concludes.

Yaskawa Motoman Inverter Line

The Japanese multinational Yaskawa Motoman took advantage of Fispal Tecnologia, one of the largest events in the food and beverage sector, to showcase panels from its line of frequency inverters used in machine drives.
