The vandalism of buses that affected public transportation in the Federal District on Thursday night (1/15) is under investigation by the Civil Police of the Federal District and may be directly related to the just cause dismissals of three employees from Urbi.
According to the Mobility Secretariat of the Federal District, 57 buses were vandalized at different points within the Federal District, in a coordinated action that raised maximum alert from authorities due to the risk to the safety of passengers and workers.

According to the agency, the main concern now is to prevent similar actions, as authorities do not rule out retaliatory episodes while investigations continue.
“We are monitoring and we are concerned because other retaliations may occur.
Police presence is being reinforced around Urbi’s garages specifically to prevent something worse from happening.
But, apparently, it was just an isolated act, an event that does not affect other operators,” stated the secretary.
Civil Police Analyzes Images and GPS Data of Buses
The Civil Police received a robust set of evidence to advance the investigation into the vandalism of buses.
Among the materials delivered are images from the internal cameras of the vandalized vehicles and GPS data, which accurately indicate the locations where the attacks occurred.
Authorities consider this information strategic for identifying the movement patterns of those involved and verifying if there was prior planning.
According to Zeno Gonçalves, investigators have already located some suspects, which may expedite progress in the investigations.
The integrated action between the Civil Police, the Security Secretariat, and the Mobility Secretariat reinforces the local government’s commitment to hold those involved accountable and to prevent new episodes of violence against public property.

As the investigation progresses, security forces have intensified policing at Urbi’s garages and in strategic areas of the public transportation system.

According to the Mobility Secretariat, there are no current indications that other transportation companies are being affected.
Still, monitoring remains active, especially in light of the seriousness of the episode and its potential social impact.
The vandalism of buses, in addition to financial losses, directly compromises urban mobility and the daily routines of thousands of people.
Therefore, authorities emphasize that acts of this nature will be dealt with severely.
