The International Renewable Energy Certification Is Essential for the Company to Prove Its Use of Clean Energy in Its Activities in More Than 160 Countries Where BIC Sells Its Products
São Paulo, November 2021 – BIC, a global leader in stationery, lighters, and razors, is increasingly engaged in sustainable actions in its units worldwide. As evidence of this progress, the company has just acquired the I-REC (International Renewable Energy Certificate) from CGNBE, which recognizes sustainable companies that use clean energy to carry out their activities.
By acquiring I-REC certificates from CGNBE’s wind farms, BIC ensures traceability and guarantees that the energy it consumes comes from a renewable source, 100% clean, demonstrating its engagement and commitment to sustainability.
In 2020, BIC achieved 80% renewable energy utilization and aims to reach 100% by 2025 as part of its global sustainability program “Writing the Future, Together,” which commits to participating in the cause for the neutralization of greenhouse gas emissions worldwide.
