Bonnell, A New Player in the E-Motorcycle Sector, Launches Two High-Tech Electric Dirt Bikes. Innovation Promises to Shake Up the Off-Road Market
Bonnell, a new electric vehicle manufacturer based in Austin, Texas, has announced its entry into the dirt bike segment. Known for developing off-road electric bicycles, the company is now betting on two new motorcycle models set to hit the market by the end of the year: the 805 and the 902.
With a team distributed across the United States, Australia, Hong Kong, and China, Bonnell aims to combine technology and performance to create electric vehicles designed for trails and rough terrains.
Model 805: Lightweight, Affordable, and Fun

The 805 is the most affordable model presented by the brand. Equipped with a 40-horsepower motor, it features a removable 3.1 kWh battery. The front suspension has 245 mm of travel with Sirris forks. The wheels are 21 inches (0.53 m) in the front and 18 inches (approx. 46 cm) in the back.

According to the manufacturer, the 805 is lightweight and easy to ride, making it suitable for those looking to have fun off-road without only tackling extreme trails. It’s an option designed for a broader audience, focusing on practicality and versatility.
Model 902: Power and Total Customization

The 902 has been developed for demanding and professional riders. Fully customized, with no off-the-shelf parts, the model delivers 62 horsepower and 900 Nm of torque. The bike’s structure allows for 285 mm of suspension travel, both front and rear, with an exclusive Sirris kit.
The bike offers two battery options: a removable 6.6 kWh pack or a lighter Race package with 4.6 kWh, ideal for competitive use. Even with less power than the Stark Varg MX, which costs US$ 11,000, the torque of the 902 is practically the same, promising excellent performance.
Technology Embedded in Both Bikes
Both the 805 and the 902 come with the same electronic package. The display on the handlebars shows data in three different modes: Precision, Performance, and Race, allowing users to tailor the information based on their type of use. There is also a lap timer for more competitive riders.
Another feature is the ‘Joy-con’ controller, which makes it easier to navigate the screen options, adjust the five customizable riding modes, and access detailed statistics. A trigger lever is also available, which can activate regenerative braking or simulate an electronic clutch.
Features and Launch Expectations for the Electric Motorcycles
Both electric motorcycle models also come equipped with a six-axis IMU, enabling functions such as wheelie control and multi-mode traction control, offering more stability and safety on difficult terrains.
Bonnell has yet to reveal the final prices or the official launch date for the new electric motorcycles. The estimate is that the 902 will cost close to that of the Stark Varg, while the 805 should be a few thousand less. The company promises to release more information soon.
