In a Recent Meeting with Representatives from the State of Ceará, Proton Ventures Discussed the Possibility of Installing the Latest Electrolyzer Project for Green Hydrogen and Ammonia Production at Porto do Pecém
On Tuesday, (06/07), a team from the Ceará Energy Industry Union (Sindenergia) and the Secretariat of Economic Development and Labor (Sedet) met to discuss future production at Porto do Pecém, located in the state of Ceará, with representatives from Proton Ventures. During the meeting, the project for a new enterprise by the company was presented, an electrolyzer that increases the efficiency of production of green hydrogen and ammonia and could be installed at the Ceará complex by the company.
Meeting Between Representatives of the Ceará Government and Proton Ventures Features Presentation of New Electrolyzer Project for Green Hydrogen and Ammonia Production
In the city of Schiedam, located in the Netherlands, representatives from Sedet and Sindenergia met with the key leaders of Proton Ventures, one of the companies in the Transhydrogen Alliance group, to discuss the future of the company’s projects at Porto do Pecém. The company is expected to produce green hydrogen and ammonia at the port complex and is now presenting new perspectives for this project to representatives of the Ceará government to discuss future possibilities.
Thus, Constantino Frate, energy, oil, and gas consultant from Sedet, who will manage the green hydrogen hub at Porto do Pecém, emphasized that Proton Ventures presented the project and a new enterprise for the region.

The executive also stated, “They demonstrated the robustness of their project and made it clear that they would seek partnerships with Ceará companies that could assist in its implementation. It will be a great opportunity for Ceará, as the project will generate jobs during the construction and maintenance phases, as told to us by the director and partner of Proton Ventures, Mr. Jacco Mooijer.”
Furthermore, the latest electrolyzer project from Proton Ventures was also presented to representatives of the Ceará government. The equipment combines an electrolyzer with energy storage, increasing the efficiency of traditional electrolyzers by 20%. This way, it will be used to provide even more efficiency in the production of green hydrogen and ammonia and is part of the Dutch company’s innovation plan for its future enterprises.
New Electrolyzer from Proton Ventures May Be Installed at the Port Complex, Thus Contributing to the Socioeconomic Development of the Ceará State in the Future
The energy, oil, and gas consultant from Sedet also commented that Proton Ventures stated that the new electrolyzer is expected to be ready by around 2023 and could already be operational. However, it will only reach its full potential by around 2025, when the final operations will be carried out to further enhance the production capacity of ammonia and green hydrogen from the new equipment from the Dutch energy company.
Now, the key point of the meeting was the possibility of constructing the equipment at Porto do Pecém, as Constantino mentioned that Proton Ventures is considering the possibility of carrying out the venture at the complex.
If this happens, the state of Ceará will be strongly benefited by another international-level enterprise, which will provide a series of job opportunities for residents and bring even more prospects for the growth of Porto do Pecém.
The business mission of the Ceará government in Europe is being led by the president of Sedet, Luís Carlos Queiroz, along with the former Secretary of Infrastructure of the State Government, engineer Luís Eduardo Moraes; consultant Constantino Frate from Sedet; and the vice-president of Sindenergia, Renato Felipe.
