Acelen announced that it will stop selling OCA1 industrial fuel oil (with a maximum sulfur content of 2%) and will start offering exclusively OCB1 (with a maximum sulfur content of 1%).

Faced with this change, the company took another significant step, with five successful operations launched in one year, presenting its unique and diversified portfolio of more than 30 products that differentiate it in the industrial fuel oil market.

Company started the changes in industrial fuel oil now in March

Early March saw the start of sales of the OCB1, coinciding with a month-long national campaign to raise awareness of tackling climate change. Celebrated on the last 16th, the initiative reinforced the urgent need to prioritize the theme of climate change.

OCB1 is generated from complex electrical mixtures during oil treatment in refineries and is used by large industries to heat ovens and create steam in boilers. By negotiating sustainable products, in addition to its value practices intrinsically aligned with ESG, Acelen aims to contribute to the sustainability of the entire value chain, actively contributing to the decarbonization of the sector.

“The adoption of this type of fuel oil will significantly reduce emissions of sulfur dioxide, a greenhouse gas, which will help reduce the impact on the environment and contribute to a energy industrial matrix cleanest in the country. We hope that, through this initiative, we can stimulate the oil and gas industry”, emphasizes Cristiano da Costa, Commercial, Trade and Navigation Vice President at Acelen.

Use of industrial biodiesel fuel oil has increased by 30%

The use of industrial fuel oil for biodiesel production will reach 148 million liters by 2022, a 30% increase over the previous year.

According to data from National Agency for Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels (ANP) determined by the Brazilian Association of Biofuel Producers (Aprobio), biodiesel production fell by 7%, due to the maintenance of the 10% blend of biodiesel with fossil diesel oil last year.

According to Aprobio, cooking oil is a potentially polluting item and, in addition to adding value to the product, biodiesel production also organizes the collection chain for industrial applications. According to the ANP, used cooking oil accounts for only 2,25% of total biodiesel inputs in Brazil, but in the Southeast its share is close to 21%.
