Government authorizes and state acquires first machine guns in history: Israeli weapons used in more than 60 countries arrive with a record package of R$ 338 million, 3,200 weapons, 1,245 vehicles, and armored vehicles for special operations.
The project also received adaptations aimed at cargo transport. Among them are a front door integrated into the nose of the aircraft, a foldable loading table, and a floor dedicated to transporting materials.
With a maximum takeoff weight of 3,800 kg, the helicopter was designed as a multi-mission platform.
In the initial phase, the priority will be the logistical transport of large volumes, an application considered central in the development of the model.
Platform can operate in civil and military missions
Airbus states that the modular architecture of the U145 will allow its use in different functions. The list includes disaster response, firefighting, surveillance, armed reconnaissance, and joint operations between manned and unmanned aircraft.
Another planned application is the use of the helicopter as a drone-launching platform in flight. For this purpose, the manufacturer maintains a partnership with the defense company MBDA.
The U145 is the second conventional helicopter transformed by Airbus into an unmanned platform. The first was the VSR700, developed from the Cabri G2 helicopter.
Airbus also targets the Marines program in the United States
In parallel, Airbus U.S. Space & Defense is participating in a program aimed at the United States Marine Corps. The proposal involves the MQ-72C, a fully autonomous version derived from the Lakota UH-72B helicopter.
The American project brings together Airbus U.S. Space & Defense, Shield AI, L3Harris Technologies, and Parry Labs. In the United States, the initiative already faces a larger competitor, the autonomous Black Hawk.
