Braskem and Gerdau’s Authorization to Work on Natural Gas Loading Reinforces Companies’ Interest in Future Business
With an eye on the upcoming public tender for the contracting of 18 million m³/day capacity of Gasbol, yesterday (08/19) it was the turn of two more companies to obtain authorization for natural gas loading. Investments had already been announced in the ex-TAG gas pipeline network, amounting to 1 billion reais.
ANP granted authorization for Braskem (petrochemical) and Gerdau (steel) to carry out natural gas loading activities.
The loading authorization (granted by ANP) is a prerequisite for companies to participate in tenders for the purchase of gas and subsequently for signing transportation contracts,
This initiative is already a preparation for companies to participate, for example, in the public tender for contracting the capacity of 18 million m³/day of Gasbol.

The Gasbol public tender (Bolivia-Brazil Pipeline) has been discussed in the sector for at least three years, and its structuring is being closely monitored by the natural gas sector, considering that it is seen as a milestone in the gas market, as a first step in the implementation of the capacity reservation regime in Brazil.
The Pipeline
The Gasbol meets the demand of the distributors through which the pipeline passes – Mato Grosso do Sul, São Paulo, Paraná, Santa Catarina, and Rio Grande do Sul. Some of these distributors joined forces last year to launch a joint public tender.
Equinor, Brasoil Manati, which belongs to PetroRio, oil companies BP Energy and Total E&P, as well as Golar Power, which operates in the LNG market and runs a terminal in Sergipe, were also authorized to carry out natural gas loading activities.
