Enauta Restarts Production in Offshore Well in Brazil with Electric Subsea Pumping System and FPSO Petrojarl I.
The Brazilian oil and gas company, Enauta, has resumed production from a new well in an offshore field in Brazil.
After issues with the electric subsea pumping system used for the FPSO Petrojarl I, Enauta temporarily halted production at the Atlanta field in July 2023. Following the reinstallation of the subsea pumping equipment in one of the wells, production was reactivated on November 5, with well No. 5’s flow rate controlled at 12,000 bbl/day, below the maximum capacity of more than 15,000 bbl/day due to FPSO limitations.
Expansion of Production from Well No. 4 and Resumption of Operations at Well No. 2
Although production at well number 4 was restarted on December 2, with an estimated flow rate above the average of 6,000 bbl/day, it was expected that the third well would return to operation within 30 days. According to Enauta, well number 2 came into operation on January 1, 2024.

Currently, the well is undergoing the final stabilization phases. With the FPSO reaching its maximum capacity with three wells in operation, production from the Atlanta field, recorded up to January 9, was 21.2 thousand bbl/day.
Replacement of FPSO Petrojarl I with FPSO Atlanta
Furthermore, the Brazilian company is in the process of replacing FPSO Petrojarl I with FPSO Atlanta, acquired for the Full Development System (FDS) of Atlanta in 2022. To this end, the naming ceremony for FPSO Atlanta was held at the Dubai Drydocks World shipyard on December 13, 2023.
Enauta states that the naming ceremony marked the almost final stage of the industrial plant of the vessel and the beginning of its commissioning phase. The first oil from FPSO Atlanta is expected in August 2024, initially with six wells, reaching ten wells by 2029, according to its development schedule at the time of project approval.
Located in block BS-4, in the Santos Basin, at a water depth of 1,500 meters, the Atlanta field is operated by Enauta Energia, the company’s wholly-owned subsidiary, which also holds a 100% stake in this asset. The field has been producing since 2018.
Enauta is working on expanding its portfolio. As a result, the Brazilian company recently signed a contract with Petrobras for the acquisition of oil and gas fields in the Santos Basin and natural gas pipeline infrastructure. The company also formalized a contract for the acquisition of the FPSO Cidade de Santos, which operates in the Uruguá and Tambaú fields.
Additionally, Enauta has begun to acquire the entire stake held by QatarEnergy Brasil in the oil fields of Abalone, Ostra, and Argonauta, which make up the Parque das Conchas.
